Old Dog 06-23-2009 02:23 PM

I am going to be out of the net until tomorrow morning (I don't expect my 15th to come up anytime soon anyway) but have given my pick to Mile High Mania and Rain Man. Mr MHM, please go with the original if the one I gave to both of you is taken.

Thank You

doomy3 06-23-2009 04:02 PM

Damn, how can this take so long?

Seriously, Rain Man, can we take a vote that if you are behind one pick, then we move on even if another pick comes up? That way whenever the owner comes back, he can just make his picks instead of us all waiting around.

We tried that already and people didn't want to. He's got 4-5 more hours though.

darosa88 06-23-2009 05:46 PM

Why don't we just drop it from 12 hours to 6... that would at least cut the wait time in half (although it'd still be slow, it would at the very least be an improvement)

Heh ... we did that in R9 I believe, it was a 24 hour clock if you can believe that...

Here's the deal, the clock expires in an hour and I have the pick for truebigdog... so, in an hour, the Kansas City Kings will be on the clock.

darosa88 06-23-2009 06:35 PM

we should do it again...

Lead the charge, I'm online all the time, others don't have that luxury. I'm guessing since some may work 8+ hours and not have the benefit of logging on during the day, they won't go for it.

Rain Man 06-23-2009 07:03 PM

One challenge with lowering it further is that it'll put people at a disadvantage if they only log on at night. I think we need to keep it at 12 hours.

Has anyone timed how long it takes to complete a round? I guess we should be thinking about the timing relative to the rookie draft and the end of training camp.

Yo - Stallions has about 20 minutes left on the clock, nearly rounding out his full 24 hours. Let's just make the pick for truebigdog and move on.

Cool?

I dunno man. I work full time, work out for 2 hours a day, live in a fraternity house and have a g/f and I still have time to make picks, and even offer people tons of trades (that they always decline :( )

I feel like if they were invested more in the game they would be more apt to make their picks on time, but I could be wrong I guess...

It's a marathon, not a sprint... all I can say. Buckle up for the long haul.

Mile High Mania 06-23-2009 07:21 PM

Ok, the timer expired on Stallions... he's been up for nearly 24 hours, 17 minutes shy of the full 24 hours. I'm taking a gamble that he's not showing up in the next 17 minutes...

Oh and you don't pick for another full round, I wouldn't even worry about this until Thursday... there's no way you or I are picking tomorrow, I'm also not in R15.

I applaud it... and yeah, this draft is slow, but it is what it is... try not to get too frustrated with it.

Mile High Mania 06-23-2009 07:35 PM

Ok - I don't pick again until R16... but, I still have 6 picks in the next 6 rounds. I'm always up for trades, I do have some players that I would move, but they won't be given away. So, if anyone is interested in dealing OUT of a Round or back in a round... you want to move a player or you covet one of mine (and how could you not) :D... make me an offer.

21 picks remaining in 19 rounds:
R15: 0
R16: 2 picks (mine & Scorpions)
R17: 0
R18: 2 picks (mine & FW Dancers)<o></o>
R19: 1 pick<o></o>
R20: 1 pick
R21-24: one pick each = 4 picks
R25: 3 picks (mine, Steamers & Tucson)
R26-33: one pick each = 8 picks

I like him... he's one of the few I would likely consider trading. I can't recall where I got him, somewhere between R8-11 I think. If you're interested, get creative and make me an offer.

I consider all trades, typically make counters if their off balance a bit... and hell, anything to keep Pestilence chasing me for the title of King of All Trades.

KC heard all the talk about Jenkins and took the remaining Jenkins brother Cullen. He only played in 4 games this past year, but he has improved every year and was on pace for career highs in most categories. I feel Cullen will help KC for years to come.

Kalil was a very good pick. I actually thought about bypassing Faine and grabbing Kalil to be on my team for the next decade. But I figured that Faine would be around for another 5-6 years anyways....and I didn't want people giving me shit for trying to draft the entire Panthers line.

I just checked and Rockio42 hasn't been on since 3 am yesterday morning.....so I'm not sure WHAT the hell he's been doing.

How about Sully? The Stallions don't pick in R15, so I'm not concerned when he makes his picks from earlier in R14...

Wanna trade out of your R15 pick? If so, I suggest reaching out to Mile High Mania... he rocks and would love to trade with you. Personally, I'm content with where I'm at... I think you suck as an owner and would never trade with you.

Damn, that's harsh! I appreciate the endorsement though.

I still have that third overall remainder draft pick and a first round rookie pick to play with if anyone is interested in trading...

The Franchise 06-24-2009 09:54 AM

I'm going to have to keep an eye on the rookie draft because I actually might want to trade back into it. I'd obviously have to use my rookie picks for next year.

Alright....just let me know. I might be interested in trading up to your R14 pick if you don't really have anyone you're looking at right now.

no i can't wait to make my r14 pick, just not sure about the next one and weighing some options

I wish Colin Brown was eligible, I need a RT.

Better give the Kings a ring when the time comes. I will be looking to trade down and am wanting a couple 2010 rookie picks with at least one of my rookie picks

Old Dog 06-24-2009 10:14 AM

I have a couple of first round picks and a second to trade in the rookie draft

Rain Man 06-24-2009 10:15 AM

As a cautionary note, anyone looking to trade (for or away) picks in the 2010 rookie draft should recognize that expansion is a realistic option, so we could have some new teams inserted into the mix.

On my to-do list is also developing a system for expansion, but that can wait a while.

Rain Man 06-24-2009 10:17 AM

Per my theory that started this whole game idea, I'm willing to trade anyone my X rookie pick in 2009 for their X-1 rookie pick in 2010. In other words, I'll give you my 7th in 09 for your 6th in 10, my 2nd in 09 for your 1st in 10, whatever. It's an open offer to anyone at any time.

Per my formula, that becomes a zero-eth round pick, which means I get to pick a player from your current roster. Either that, or it means the universe blows up.

I would likely consider trading my 1st in any year for 1sts in the following two years, but I'd have to think about that.

I would like to trade a R3 pick in the 2017 draft for a R27 pick in 2009... anyone?

nice pick with Wimbley

The Franchise 06-24-2009 10:47 AM

I was hoping Wimbley would fall a little more. Damn good picks in a row there: Wimbley and Davis.

Rain Man 06-24-2009 11:00 AM

Davis was going to be a perfect fit for my remaining LB spot. And now he's cursed to spend his career without a championship.*

* - This presumes that Bradenton will win every championship, which at this point seems like a reasonable assumption.

Kyle DeLexus 06-24-2009 11:07 AM

DeMarcus Ware might have something to say about that....I mean who wants to be shipped off to Boise?

Rain Man 06-24-2009 11:10 AM

Do you know how far a $20 million signing bonus will go in Boise? He can have a butler and everything in Boise.

As opposed to, you know, Bradenton.

I imagine Davis would've been a perfect fit for a lot of teams' lb spots, great versatile player.

That's quite an assumption, but Jared Allen and Mario Williams do form a decent tandem I suppose.:)

And as far as Allen being at risk of a long suspension, I believe that expired when he went a year without incident.

Seriously? So I can be even more mad now that we traded him?

I thought the strikes never went away.

bdeg 06-24-2009 11:39 AM

No luck finding a link, but I believe he's no longer in the NFL substance abuse program, which is when the potential year-long suspension would be applicable.

Wonder if Carl got that memo.

I was also wondering (wishing that Pioli had replaced Carl before the trade) just what Pioli would've done with him. I assume we'd still be looking at a 3-4 team, so Allen may have been traded anyway, if not it would've been pretty strange seeing him at lb.

Yo... get ready from some CREZZY NEWS!

darosa88 06-24-2009 03:13 PM

***TRADE ALERT***

Memphis Malt Liquor and Boise Beetdiggers have come to terms on the following trade:

Boise Beetdiggers receives the rights to Kris Jenkins and Memphis Malt Liquor's round 25 vet pick (P12)

Memphis Malt Liquor receives the rights to Boise Beetdiggers' round 16 vet pick (P14, Boise's 2nd of that round) and round 17 vet pick (P14)

Both organizations seemed very pleased with the deal.

Just wanted you all to know I'm still alive I hope giving up these two picks don't come back to haunt me.

So

The rookie is talking a big game?

darosa88 06-24-2009 05:19 PM

haha yeah. I just inherited a team that had players I didn't want. I wanted to do something totally different with my scheme and therefore needed to move players. That's why I've been so active trading..

Ok guys, I'm back, I tried to get a trade going to Pestilence before I had to leave but unfortunately I had to leave for Columbia (Mizzou) for my Summer Orientation and my picks came around at the absolutely worst time, so I am very very very sorry guys...
