ISU isn't allowing them to get out into transition sans the last play. KU's offense isn't nearly as good when we don't get easy buckets and are forced to play the whole game in the half court.

JFC, there's a lot of dumb basketball being played at AFH tonight. Not quite live, but until that Withey steal/Releford basket, it was 10 minutes of full reerun basketball. Dumb shots and dumb fouls by KU... ISU could have led by 10 or 20 had they not been so set on trying to hit the big 3.... :doh!:

ISU plays 5 guys out, making it really tough to guard with Withey. He's gonna have to just move his feet and be active.

Well, their 5 that Withey guards is a pretty good shooter. You have to bring him out to guard. Or sit him, which severely hurts us defensively.

Alot of this could be solved with better ball pressure.

Kind of reminded me of playing against a NCAA tournament team who lives and dies by the threes.

you bring Withey out to defend and it opens up the driving/passing lanes in the middle and hurts our rebounding

Yes, if you put Withey in the paint, the guy he is supposed to guard, is a good shooter. Thats their gameplan, to get Withey away from the basket by basically playing small ball with 5 "guards".

we didn't make the pay for playing small on defense.

No we didn't. They doubled Withey and didn't guard Kevin at the top of the key at all.

Ellis really needs to evolve into that role where he can hit a 15 footer from the top of the key. Or Kevin, either one.

Hopefully Ellis or Traylor can guard Niang outside/inside

we are going to run into more teams like this, we need to have a better plan.
