Lets be honest though. A QB in and Andy Reid offense gets 5 or so free TDs a year on those "passes" that are really just hand offs.

Mahomes still the goat but he had a real, real rough game. But that makes me even feel better about this team. No Jones, No Breeland and defense played great. Those corners and Fenton looked great. Andy or Beinemy schemed up two nice goal line gadget plays.

This team is becoming more and more of an all around team.

Mahomes has created this bad habit of not showing up against inferior opponents. It felt like he was barely trying there. Game should have been a blowout in the second period. Anyway, a win is a win.

They got much faster on D. Chung was slow and they just have all the parts they need. Their D is all about the secondary and they are still loaded.

Raiders twice?
Broncos twice?
Chargers again?

That's 5 wins there. Maybe we lose the Chargers game if we're sitting people but probably not if their post-season is over.

Jets, Falcons, Dolphins and Panthers? Should be wins.

All wins are tough but 13 there plus the Bills, Saints, Bucs on the road? We'll probably drop 1-2 there but as long as it isn't the Bills we'll be in great position for the bye.

Sammy fumble hurt, just like last week's Thompson fumble... it got us out of the Mojo...

OKchiefs 10-05-2020 08:10 PM

So that's 2 of the past 3 games against defenses smart enough to not blitz and just drop everyone in coverage that Mahomes has simply not looked good. Is that on Mahomes, on Andy for playing vanilla, on the receivers for not getting open, or something else? Sure a win is a win, but a team like Buffalo with a legit defense and with an actual competent QB could be trouble.

Yeah but then there is Russell Wilson, who has repeatedly torched Belichick's defenses. 1 huge play in the end zone of a Super Bowl saves it from being a 100% lopsided matchup in Russell's favor.

Thank God we don't have to play in "Injury Death Stadium" in New Jersey. That turf is evil.

RedRaider56 10-05-2020 08:11 PM

I remember the overhead shot they showed when the Chiefs were in the red zone and there wasn't one guy open for Pat to throw to. Everything was blanketed.
The Pats always seem to have a new defensive scheme that KC is always slow to react to.

Yea but this was the first game they’ve actually ran CEH outside a couple of times and it worked much better. You have to find balance, but we need to run to the outside more than we usually do.

False. Tackling (even on the D-Line you baselessly whined about) was fine. Yes, Sorensen, Niemann, and Hitchens largely stink, but the other guys are fine. We had as many sacks as BB's vaunted defense, even though the Pat's would prefer to not pass at all.

dirk digler 10-05-2020 08:19 PM

The obvious answer to stop teams from dropping every one back is run the ball much better. Just can't seem to do that consistently. I noticed Darwin didn't get any snaps at RB.

Any time a team runs up the middle on a 1st and 10 or 2nd and 10 they are just wasting expected points on that possession.

we haven't been mixing it up though. I don't think we ran outside at all until the 3rd quarter. Let CEH hide behind the linemen running sweeps, he can cut it upfield anytime he wants. That should help our Oline with their blocks.

I think I'm done trying to explain simple shit like this. The inside run CLEARLY sets up other things. You get what you can get. With the 3-8 alignment, we probably should have run MORE up the middle, but I digress.

I love Clyde, but he missed some reads/cuts/holes tonight (and still averaged 4 per carry).

Really? I hope you're right.

If Atlanta keeps getting people injured there might not be anthing left to play us.

I would say there isn’t a team the Saints match up worse against than us.

Brees can barely throw the ball 15 yards.

They are struggling with mega injuries right now. If/when they get healthy they are a "good" team.

Green Bay and Seattle are the best teams in the NFC right now.
