I think I might give it a try for a bit to force some cardio into my workouts. They mix it up everyday and the guys who are into it are pretty freakin cut. Check out crossfit.com if you're interested. The other plus is they are pretty fast workouts since you're trying to go for speed to, so I spent a lot less time at the gym.

I've been working in a lot of crossfit routines as well (and singing its praises on here). Tonight I did the sumo dead lift high pull, and it completely kicked my ass. I haven't fully committed to the program, but I love the whole idea and what I see. My gym doesn't really have a lot of the stuff I need to commit to the WotD, or else I'd probably get fully on board.

I'm also kind of scared to do a lot of the exercises without having a coach (or someone knowledgeable) with me to ensure proper technique. You can jack yourself with a lot of the exercises they do.

Taking a 3 hour kettlebell seminar this Saturday. Stoked to start working that into my routines.

regarding my underware, it's Sisley or Hugo Boss, hip hugger type. Nice ball support, for sure.

Day 2 and I'm really liking it, it's forcing me to do cardio and really pushes you each day, especially since I have a couple friends to compare times/lifts with.

If you check out the FAQs section on the crossfit website they have alternate lifts if you don't have the equipment to do what they call for. Like last night I had to do a combo of pull ups and dips since my gym doesn't have rings. Sometimes you have to piece it together a bit differently, but I like the idea of a new routine every time.

I don't think you are 'crazy'. When I was younger, I was trying to 'gain' weight. I was trying to get my body weight up to 200lbs. I was working out all the time, and I started at 165lbs. I fell way short, and quit lifting when I got out of the NAVY.

Then, I got married, got a desk job and quickly got to my 200lb goal. Only, the weight wasn't distributed quite the way I wanted. LOL.

I am at 185lbs now. I am trying to drop another 10lbs, while lifting to ensure that it is the right 10lbs.

After that, I assume that I will actually be gaining weight little by little. I would like to be 185lbs, and ripped. I don't know that it will happen. But, so long as I have decent muscle mass, and very little body fat, I don't care what the scale says.

Right now, I am using the scale so much because it gives me something concrete to work with. It is hard to tell in the mirror when you have lost a single pound. So, the scale helps me to be very concious of my food consumption.

How tall are you?

About 5'10" with a small frame. I'm getting closer to my "ideal weight", but I think I've finally plateaued.

So... yeah. Tendinitis sucks. I'm still nowhere near being able to hit the gym. So, I'm taking this opportunity to really LEAN THE **** OUT.

I've had 3600 calories since Sunday. Yeah. Sunday. I'm fasting at eating low and slow. I'm on my second meal of the day, same as the first. 1 cup strawberries, 2/3 tsp olive oil and a scoop of casein protein powder. ~220 cals each.

Tomorrow is a cheat day, though, and I'm going to get some donuts and Taco Bell that I've been craving. Then, it's back at the fasting. Won't be lifting next week, either. Just doing spin classes and playing soccer.

It's probably just as well, since I'm getting major tattoo work on Sunday. Will be easier not working out while it heals, anyway. I'll see if the pics are worth posting when I'm done with this. I kinda doubt they will, but at least I'll be losing some body mass. My wife thinks I'm starting to get too big, anyway, so this is a good opportunity to shrink down a couple of pounds of muscle in the upper body. Probably won't lose any in the legs since I'm doing so much soccer and spinning.

I don't know why I haven't posted this here before, but I read this article a couple months ago in Outside about diet. The basic premise: the author lives for 8 weeks on a specific diet. Along the way he exercises and has a doctor taking blood samples. He also meticulously keeps track of how he feels with a journal. Anyway, it's well worth the read. It doesn't have the definitive answer on diet, but it does provide some insightful, interesting reading:

Just got back from KC. I had a death in the family. So, I drove up Monday night. I stayed at a hotel that had a 'fitness center'. I figure they would at least have some Nautilus machines. They had a beat up tread mill, eliptical and stationary bike. They had a bench, and had a rack that at one point, surely held dumbells..... only they had all be stolen.

I did 30 minutes in the pool instead. Just swimmming laps the whole time.

Well, I drove back yesterday. I left KC at 3:30am so that I would miss most of the bad weather. There was a storm that was coming out of the southwest that I was basically going to be in all the way home if I didn't beat it. I only had to drive in it about the last 2 hours.

Anyway, I got home, got unpacked, then went to the gym. Legs/abs.

Great workout.
