I'm sure it was the sign and not that Charles actually got to play.

Yes wins and losses are how you judge a single player, Aeneas Williams was a scrub for a decade!

But the organization was continually hammered on 810 and in the Star. So, basically any media member following the franchise thought it was a joke.

You don't suppose any of that had to do with the media lockout that took place do you?

I will say this, last year had a lot of ugly, more ugly than good so there was plenty to bitch about.

The sign, not one worth mentioning.

Win and you can place a sign at the door calling everyone assholes and nobody cares. Lose and everything becomes an issue.

I agree with you on this for sure. I think the players talked 100x less about it than we have here.

I heard that Oakland has offered to swap its #8 plus recent #1 overall Jamarcus "Phenom" Russell to the Chiefs for the #5. Ouch! Stop! You're raping us! Ow!

I think the point is that the team actually played really hard to close the season, so it's hard to claim that the players responded negatively to the sign. I'm actually not that concerned about Haley's ability to motivate players. Other things I worry about, but not that.

Of course. Because it's a childish bullshit little ploy, like stupid ****ing signs.

How about trying something novel like paying a little less attention to the dumbass reporters and radio guys and a little more attention to not doing ridiculously stupid shit on Sundays, like the infamous 4-8-28, or actually putting the best players on the field in the first place, rather than when injury forces the situation.

But that's just me.

BossChief 04-18-2010 10:14 PM

BTW, I meant 2 of the next three wins...meant to change it but didnt before it posted....

The lockout started before they played a game let alone before they played like crap so it's not like it was a result of bad play causing media attention.

I don't think it was due to paying attention to the media as there was nothing negative yet to write.

Why they do it I don't know but I don't think it has to do with paying attention to them. Hell all that did was give them fuel.

I don't see how the signs were particularly stupid. You have a veteran in the locker room undermining your coach. The last thing you want is for your coach to lose control of your locker room. Or to admit that he's powerless when someone challenges his credibility. You either address it or you don't. And that is directed toward both your locker room and the media, that might also call into question whether your coach is too inexperienced to lead.

Nobody talked about Haley being a golf coach again. Yeah, it's a little childish, but it got the job done.

It''s completely laughable to think how players play would be effected by a sign hanging outside the locker room.

I didn't hear anything negative form players including Waters during or after the season. LJ is the only shit bird go figure.

Even Richardson who went to the Texans said he believed KC was on the right track.

Chambers said KC was really the only place he wanted to sign.

Yea the team is lost.

Regardless of what people want to make of it here, there has been zero comment or negative from players or former players.

If it was sooooo bad, such a joke, you would hear something.

Yes, in public this is true.

And I'm 100 percent confident that these approaches win the respect and trust of grown men. No chance they think the guy is a ****ing joke behind his back.

But we're getting completely off-track and into the realm of hypothetical, however grounded in common sense or knowledge of that type of environment.

No, but marcellus is right that you're not hearing a lot of players bitching. You don't hear too many players demanding trades. And it sounds like everyone showed up to camp in shape.

We've seen this many times before--when players think their coach is a joke, they stop listening. And based on how hard they played at the end of the season and how they're showing up in shape ready to play, it sounds like at least for now, respect isn't an issue.
