Raiders will be dumb enough to give him 32-35 million till he’s 34 just to torque us and help with the Mahomes Rules. It’ll work out about as well as Sapp did.

I agree completely but when these agents are in these guys' ears every day things can change. It's pretty rare a guy like TJ Watt walks into the office himself and works it out with the owner.

Jones is going to let the phones ring on Monday. You can bet that much.

If Monday comes and no deal, it's probably over. Veach isn't going to be left holding the bag and will jump on his alternatives on Monday and has most likely shared that with the Jersey boys.

So you are saying his legacy would be the same if he left as if he finished his career out in KC? You are saying that he most likely won't have more opportunity for additional income with commercials/exposure playing for the Chiefs? It's not a ****ing guilt trip. I could care less if he goes or stays as Veach is going to do what's best for the Chiefs. My point is for $5 or $6 million less after taxes, and the likelihood of having more additional income playing for the Chiefs, it's not much different.

I go to every ****ing home game and do you know how many Jamaal Charles jerseys I see? LMAO

He can have commercials anywhere. Unless you think the commercials he's done in KC can offset the money he'll make elsewhere in contract. Do you think directv is paying millions of dollars for that one as spot he has LMAO?

And i see Charles jerseys at Arrowhead. I've even worn mine to games. I've also seen Derrick Johnson jerseys. Tony Gonzalez jerseys. Vast majority of people don't just throw away their jerseys just because a player goes on another team. I'm guessing it will be just like that for the player who was a key part in three Superbowl wins.

There's an old saying and I'm not sure where it comes from but it goes like this...

It's better to part with a player a year early than a year late. That's where we are with Chris.

Historically Veach sets a number and sticks to it. I think that's where we are here. It's just time.

Archie Bunker 03-09-2024 12:52 PM

Jones is 100% about money or he wouldn’t have risked it all against the Chargers for a sack. He has his rings and cares about proving a point and that’s fine. Prove it somewhere else. The Chiefs aren’t a team that can afford to do it.

Stick to the plan for the longterm window. Let him walk and trade Sneed.

LMAO... We agree, Jones is probably about the money, but to say he won't be treated differently if he goes to a competitor for 3-4 years is ridiculous. He will always be appreciated, but it won't be the same as if he stayed, not even close.
If he stays and they win even 1 more Superbowl over his tenure, he would be on the Chiefs Mt. Rushmore. I get it, that may not be important to him if it's all about the bag. We will find out in the next 48-72 hours.

Meh. Good for him. He should get his final pay day.

The Chiefs will be fine.

Say hi to Tyreek in Cancun.

At this point…I’m in the mindset to let Jones walk and trade Sneed.

Agreed.

Just don’t let Chris Jones hold up another offseason like last year.

It honestly needs to be the plan. Free up money to fill some holes and maybe lock up a guy 2 and gain draft capital. I have faith in Williams, Watson, and Spags’ ability to scheme a defense up without both of them.

100% agree. I'm just tired of all the drama that comes with Jones and I don't want to be left cash-strapped by giving him a massive contract. I would actually be excited to see how Veach uses the money and possible draft pick(s) from Sneed to rebuild the Chiefs for next season. Whatever happens Veach has a plan I'm sure.

Jones will walk, but will end up back in KC when nobody pays him what he is demanding.
