But whatev. It's a show about zombies so I'm going to suspend my disbelief. Plus I've been waiting on someone to show up with a katana.

They don't, but with no lower jaw, they can't bite, and just as importantly can't moan. and with no arms, they can't grab and claw. Plus, what better pack mule than a zombie, they never get tired, and will follow you thinking that they can eat you all over the place.

On top of this, the smell of the zombies will disguise your delicious pork chop smell to other zombies, so you are more easily capable of slipping through them. Is it fool proof, no, but every little bit helps.

He had a few lines. He wanted to go with Rick and Shane to look for Sophia. He wanted a gun.Told Rick that Hershcel was good with it.

Also he was the one who told Herschel the walkers were stuck in the swamp.

What the hell were you doing, complaining again about nothing? If you hadn't of left Carl out there I could have just sprinted back to the house. Instead we had to go to the barn and split up."
She's such a dumbass.

Exactly. That's what my wife and I said.

Lori knew that Rick was going out with Shane to search for Randall and at that time Carl was still in the house. Her reaction, I thought was to Carl shooting Shane...which pissed me off because what was he supposed to do, let Shane eat Rick?!?

Then the scene where Carl turned to his mom and started to cry pissed me off. He is the one who left the house the night the horde showed up, he stole Daryll's gun and caused the walker to get out of the mud causing Dale's death, he was the one who shot Shane, and he was the one who wanted Rick to execute Randall...now all the sudden he turns into a little bitch? dunno, just annoyed me.

I hope Daryll plays a bigger role next season, he's probably my favorite character. Herschel was kind of badass poppin zombies, thought he was going to get it for sure after he gave Glenn his pocketwatch and basically gave Maggie over to him to protect.

Loved Rick taking charge. I'd get sick and tired of people bitching and second guessing me too. I loved the whole "If you think you can survive on your own, then go. There's the door."

I did think his explanation to the group about how/why he killed Shane sounded a bit unhinged...

So, they "think" they can eat you, so they'll follow you. Wouldn't they just constantly be walking all over you? Why would they stay at the end of their chains and not be right up on top of you? Is this addressed in the comics? Of course, we only saw a few seconds of footage, so maybe they don't normally stay back so far.....

Just enough to get the actor his SAG card, then.

I agree with this. I re-watched it to make sure, and I was right, she was disgusted when Rick told her "Carl put him down".

That's exactly what I'm getting at. They don't know that they can't bite anymore, they're zombies. They should constantly be trying to attack her. Yet they had a few feet of slack hanging on those chains..

In defense of Lori here. Her reaction wasn't necessarily off base. Rick never said "Shane came back, and was bearing down on me from behind, I had no idea. Carl put him down, if he hadn't been there, I'd be dead". The way he told it, for all she knows, he could have set there with Carl and help him set up his shot instead of taking care of it himself. Context would help everything quite a bit. I'm sure a lot of this will get sorted out before long.

We all know Carl has "hardened" a bit, but up until this point, Rick hadn't told him that he was the one who murdered Shane. Carl probably still assumed it was somehow zombie or Randall related. So when Rick finally divulges the info that he murdered Shane(again, doing so with poor context) Carl is not only horrified that his dad murdered him, but Shane also played a large role in Carl's life. From being his father's best friend/partner, to being his stand in father figure when Rick was believed to be dead. So the love Carl had for Shane has a lot to do with why Carl is so disgusted at the idea of his father murdering him.

He did SUCH a poor job of explaining things, and it's almost like he prefers it that way and doesn't care. Either that, or horrible writing yet again. Previously, Rick had been so good with words and choosing them carefully in situations like this. He was always thoughtful, deliberate and insightful when he had spoken with Herschel in the past. A bit odd to me.

Could be that he's just so pissed he doesn't have a cool head, or that he wants to seem like a maniac in order to command more respect.

My BIG problem is that all of a sudden that stupid bitch Carol is being an instigator. "How could he not tell us". Give me a break. It changed nothing, whether or not you knew, between then and now. Again though, Rick could have provided better context and explained that he didn't know for sure until Shane reanimated.

I too had a little bit of a problem with this. Whether or not they CAN bite you, won't stop them from trying. So when she stood there over Andrea, the zombie escorts, realistically would have been trying their damnedest to eat her.

Also, this whole thing ruins the "herd" theory for me. If they instinctively herd up, and mimic one anothers movement and objective, why then, wouldn't there be hoards of zombies falling in line with and mimicking her zombies? Theoretically, she'd be followed by a herd of zombies.

Yes but they should still be trying to lumber forward and eat her. Based on the zombie characteristics established by the show already.

If i was Rick, armed with the knowledge that all of them are infected with the zombie virus, would observe the behavior characteristics of all in the group. Watch for possible signs of an infected member.

For instance if he notices one of them bumping into walls, eating their food intensely, drooling a touch of blood, walking with a limp, staring at people,
acting stupid and moaning and groaning a bit more then normal.

He could put them out of their misery before they turn full-fledged zombie.
I should say the accurate term, a walker.

You have to die before the disease effects you.

They are all carrying it. It will be 100% clear they are dead before they need to kill anyone.

"We're all infected" means that they all will turn to zombies WHEN THEY DIE, regardless of whether they've been bitten or not. It doesn't mean that we'll turn to zombies while still alive.

I don't know man, those zombies are sneaky son of a guns.

not really a spoiler, since it was just on tv, (stop reading right now if you don't want sand in your va-jay jay) in the book, one of the greatest lines was rick screaming "we are the walking dead"!!! at the end of a chapter.

it was actually pretty chilling when we as the reader realize that the character has this revelation.

They help to deter Walker attacks. Similar to what Rick & Glenn did by rubbing zombie guts all over their clothes. At least that's what I've read.

That was a question I had for my wife at the beginning, when they were showing the zombie herd heading for the farm. What happens to zombies if they don't find any live people to chow down on? Do they eventually drop....um, dead?

I always thought of it more as sort of pain relief for them to eat. Like some desire to be part of the living again.

not that there's any direct correlation, but I remember the same thing being said by an actual zombie in one of the return of the living dead. The one that takes place in the cemetary.

Wasn't it 28 Days Later where the "infected" could die of starvation? I liked that aspect of that movie.

Yes, but that's because they aren't zombies in the traditional sense. They are still alive, but infected with a virus called Rage. So yes, if they don't eat, they die.

jiveturkey 03-21-2012 09:17 AM

In World War Z they just eventually rot to the point where they can't move any more. Or something like that.

You are correct. The zombies in "Return of the Living Dead" only ate the brains. It took "the pain of being dead away" according to one of the zombies captured in the movie.

I don't recognize her from anything I've seen on TV, but I have no doubt that she'll portray her character well. The scene w/ her saving Andrea was beyond awesome!

LOL, when they introduced the badass zombie killer, I looked at my wife and said,"That has to be a black person."

Her,"What, why do you say that?"

Me,"Two black zombies on chains. There is NO way AMC is touching that."

I ended up being right. :D
Is that bad?

Los Pollos Hermanos 03-21-2012 12:41 PM

Is "I Am Legend" considered a zombie movie?

I wouldn't consider it a zombie movie. The only thing they have in common is a post apocalyptic setting.

What kaplin said.

It's more like 28 Days but with a Vampire twist.

I liked that aspect of that movie.

I liked the part to see how long they last, You could test their strengths and weaknesses. Perhaps see if you could get them to turn on each other.

Glen Mazzara Interview

Is there an end in sight to this show or do you foresee an indefinite run? --BklynChik

A: You know, ask me that after Season 7. Because I think we can go to 7 Seasons at least.

So, I'm almost done with the 4th season of Dexter....and after the 5th season.....I'll need to pick a new show to watch on DVD.

Is this one worth it?

tmw4h5 03-22-2012 05:48 PM

Sure, check it out.

I know they had the one zombie chained up to see how long it took him to starve. But he was set loose before that happened.

Yeah, it is. It definitely has its slow moments, particularly the beginning to middle of Season 2, but it's a fun ride. Besides, who doesn't like seeing zombies getting their heads blown off?

Those were not "DEAD". They had the rage virus. They could be killed in any way you kill a living person, because they are living people. They could also sprint like a MFer.

The DEAD will never starve, and never die unless their brains are destroyed.
