Most likely an anomaly. But it was solid work agains the top team in the division. And it appears the Royals are catching the Indiuardians at the right moment.

Hell of a job last night and I certainly hope so!

But, honestly, I think what we saw last night says a LOT more about where Cleveland is right now that it does our bullpen. They're reeling . . . . . BAD. They just seem mentally beat down right now (which is great for us!)

Unless something dramatic changes, I'd say the division will come down to us and Minnesota. We're gonna have to beat them next week. Got 6 straight at home against Cleveland then Twins.

Fun times to be a Royals fan again!

Yessir. The much maligned bullpen won this games and the offense delivered too. It takes a lot of pressure off when the fellas hit.

Stephen Vogt’s face in the press conference last night was very similar to the mug he wore just after the Royals snatched the WC game away from the A’s on 09/30/2014

Cleveland has always had the look of a team that would falter. They seemed like a team that would get to the playoffs and get swept.

Interested in why you say this? I don't follow other teams close enough to know why Cleveland appears to be built on a house of cards and has fallen apart.

Their starting rotation has been patchwork all year. Their bullpen is lights-out, but heavy usage is wearing it down. Except for Clase, who is an alien.

Their offense has also been flailing bad when JRam isn't mashing.

And he hasn't been lately . . . .

I was going to say that their offense was really lucky in the first half. Not in BABIP or anything, just guys having miracle starts. For example, at the end of may, their catcher David fry had a 1.128 OPS. He was averaging a home run every 11 plate appearances. You’re not going to believe this but he hasn’t kept that up, hitting about .190 since July and went 120 plate appearances without a HR. Kwan is another one. He missed most of may injured, but in the middle of June he was hitting .397(!) with a 1.000 OPS. He had set his career high for home runs in a season in half the at bats of any previous season. Again, it’s not sustainable, and he’s been crashing back to earth since then, hitting .198 in August and his ops is trending down to the mid .700s where it has been in his first 2 seasons.

All last year they struggled to score and hit home runs, finishing last by 27 home runs! It’s a bit out of the ordinary that they added no major FAs or called up any huge prospects and through the first half they were a top 10 team in home runs. That was due for a correction and it has certainly come due for them.

JJ says 2-3 weeks but we all know hamstrings can be longer than that. Could linger for most of the rest of the season.

From an injury perspective, he is fine. From a running on fumes due to exceeding career highs in innings pitched (same as Lugo), I'm not so sure. We'll see. Obviously gonna need his A game the rest of the way, hope he can deliver it.

I'm certainly not a fan, nor am a, Al "I Eat My Own Shit" Bundy apologist... but there might be something to the Hunter Harvey thing. He's had back issues before, and had back spasms earlier this year for the Nats, so this isn't something new. I'm hoping we can ride out the next two weeks, and hopefully get a healthy-sh version of Hunter good to go for the last couple weeks of the season/playoffs.

If only it were that simple. This will change the way pitchers attack our lineup. I agree that if you had to pick one of those 3 to miss the rest of the season, he would be the one you’d probably pick but the fact is that we just lost 33% of the guys that opposing pitchers give a shit about in our lineup.

One play that should’ve been a double play with Witt and Massey playing up the middle just demolished us when erceg reached his hand for the ball. If not we probably win the game and that’s just the start of the butterfly effect with Vinny now being out and I haven’t heard anything about Ercegs hand. Just ****

It has been done. The Angels drafted Nolan Schanuel in the first round last year (11th overall) and he was in the majors after a grand total of 22 minor league games, none above AA. He contributed right away and has stuck in the majors ever since.

That's wrong.

Schanuel had a 161 wRC+ with a 21.1 BB% and an 11.8 K% in 76 plate appearances with Double-A Rocket City.

Jac is holding his own with a 20.9 K% and an 8.1 BB% and a 97 wRC with high Single-A Quad Cities. Decent numbers, but nothing that screams move him up three levels to the majors.

Schaunel has done well in that situation. He has elite plate skills, but the knock against him is whether he will impact the ball enough to be a true thumper at 1B.

If by they you mean some fans and talk show guys, sure. I haven't heard anyone in the organization mention it.

I highly doubt they do it but if they were to consider it, it would basically be saying that Jac right now can offer more than Freddy Fermin can offensively (there is no way you bring him up to not play most days). I don't think he can at the MLB level. He might hit a few homers but he'd K a metric **** ton and that could have some negative long term consequences on his psyche. At best you'd get a lefty version of Paul DeJong (not the relatively small sample size, close to .300 hitting one, the usual one) and although he has pop, what we need in trying to "replace" Vinnie is consistent and good contact.

Totally forgot about Pratto. Even with him...we'll have to pray for some kind of miracle.

Yeah, he's not what anyone would consider to be good so he's basically gonna be a body to give Salvy or Fermin a day off.
