Matt Roth was a better DE in the Big Ten last season. I would take Roth over James, although Roth doesn't have the size.

The surplus on safety's Woods, Wesley, Knight, Hart

eazyb81 04-19-2005 12:00 PM

Our only real options at 15 are Carlos Rogers or Thomas Davis. Anyone else would probably be a reach at that point. I would love it if we drafted Davis as an OLB, but I think Vermeil and CP are way too scared to do something like that. That is something smart that a team like the Ravens would do.

Probably the fact that we've already had a safety play both CB positions, both OLB positions, and defensive ****ing end...

Stills should be an OLB, not an undersized pass rushing DE.

We take a S with the no 15 pick and I'm turning it off. I don't even want to get that pissed again... :shake:

No, that's not how it works. We turn Safeties into CBs here. If you want a LB, you draft a DE and move him to LB.

I would piss my pants. Learning from their mistakes never have been much of a 'Chief Quality'.

My emotional, financial and time investment is ZERO until Peterson is gone or he proves that the first 16 year sample pool was a fluke. Actually I don't think a sixteen year sample pool can be a fluke...

Allow me to rephrase; until Peterson is gone or he pulls a fluke season out his ass.

No kidding, the guy is just a great football player. Just because there is an "S" by his name doesn't mean that is the only position he can play. He has played both OLB positions and both safety positions and has been successful at each one. If we pick him at 15 I will a happy man.

I think it'll be pretty funny when we draft him and then he beats out Sammy Knight for the SS position. Because that's his best position. Better yet, let's draft him and make Davis, Wesley, and Knight our LB's, and let Pile start at SS.

Brock 04-19-2005 12:55 PM

I just want somebody who tackles and does it with authority. Sad to say, the last guy I saw on the field doing that was Mazlowski. This arm tackling shit has got to go.

I've watched him his entire college career. Never have I been more sure of "bustdom".

He's prototypically lazy, disappearing for drives at a time. He's got a strange combination of too much height and not enough weight.

And to top it all off, he's fragile.

If I knew that the coaching staff would, FOR A FACT, move him to OLB I'd be fine with that.

But I don't think they will. No, they're too ****ign brilliant to do that. He'll end up be told to add weight and play DE, or nickelback, or told he has to compete with Woods/Wesley for a job...

IMO, it makes no difference if he's a linebacker or a safety. He's a playmaker on defense.

As for the coaching staff, who cares? Davis will still be here long after they're gone.
