There was a psychologist whose name escapes me at 2 am, but nonetheless he did a scale of the thought processes of the human mind in their level of comprehension of life and the such. His results came back that only 1 out of 10 people in his study thought at a level where they questioned why certain laws were legal or to put what is morally right above the function of society. That's right, only 1 out of 10. So organizations such as this serve a good purpose for many. As one of those 1, Logical, you probably see it as hindering to finding your true self, and consequently the way to be truely right with God, but for those other 9, it serves as a purposeful tool for those who don't bother to question why. You might also add, those who feel Big Govt is a religion, anorganized one in order to correct the people's behavior particularly regarding other groups of people they won't associate with freely. In order to enforce this there is the threat of jail, a fine or both. This would be the Progressives and other socialists. Afterall, govt is their religion it just replaces a church. They do their acts of charity and good under this. You might also separate what a religion actually professes to believe and show the proportion that does not practice those beliefs too whether organized or not, human nature being what it is. |

I think folks who don't believe in organized religion just haven't found the right one. It's not that I believe you can't find God without Church, or Allah without a Mosque, I believe you can....but what I believe is that when folks get it right in a church, etc (meaning that they understand how much they fail and that everyone within it fails, and this is a separate topic)...it can be a place that is freeing and a place that is full of much growth for one's faith system. I don't think folks who believe against organized religion, really understand the concept to begin with. It isn't about telling someone what they should or shouldn't believe (although many organized religions have gotten this wrong over and over again), it's about providing a safe space for people to explore and be supported in that exploration. At least, it should be.
