Kirk Ferentz is one of the hottest NFL coaching prospects out there. And that's a FACT.

Ok, bad year for the clones. Ok, let's say we hire Kirk. What has he done? He has been to one BCS bowl and was outcoached by........................ Pete Carrol.

That's the typical answer.

Pete Carroll coaches at USC. With the school's prestige alone, he gets the top recruits in the nation year after year after year.

What has Ferentz done? Let's see:

He's taken a mid-tier Big 10 school with 2 and 3* recruits and competed HEAD TO HEAD with Michigan and Ohio State.

He finished in the Top 10 in the nation THREE YEARS IN ROW, one of only 3 coaches to do that - and he did it all with players nobody else wanted.

He took an unrecruited, skinny QB from South Dakota and turned him into a 1st-round NFL LB. Matt Roth, Dallas Clark, Robert Gallery, Eric Steinbach, Aaron Kampmann, Jared Clauss, Erik Jensen, Sean Considine, and Chad Greenway were all players that CHANGED POSITIONS at Iowa, at Ferentz' request, and are now getting playing time in the NFL.

Well, if you want to go there, why not hire Chris Peterson? He has done a wonderful job at BSU. He has turned that group around since the days of dirk cutter. He has amped up that team with no blue-chip recruits and turned them into a BCS team. If he can turn that bunch into National Contenders, he could turn the Chiefs into a dynasty in 5 years easy.

Saleenman607 12-22-2006 11:10 AM

I'd rather talk about Rainmans wife........

Does Chris Peterson have any NFL experience? If so, he might be a good choice. But I would point out that coaching in the MWC is a little different than coaching the Big 10 or Big 12.

Ferentz was an NFL offensive line coach. Johnathon Ogden credits him with making him into the player he is today.

I don't think so. It seems that any coach available at the college level has had a bad experience at the Pro level, or has none at all. I also want to talk about rainman's wife.

Saleenman607 12-22-2006 11:28 AM

Or....we could have Rainmans wife talk to us.
Either way........

htismaqe 12-22-2006 11:29 AM

ROFL

Priest4Prez 12-22-2006 11:37 AM

Do you think there is gong to be a dominos.com bowl next year?

Saleenman607 12-22-2006 12:02 PM

Since Rainmans wife has not contacted me, I would like to add to this conversation by saying Mr. Peterson made the best decision he could at those particular times and I believe they were right with the exception of Mr. Cunningham. I think loyalty to Mr. Cunningham weighed heavily.
Being a long time KC fan in hostile territory, I have learned to keep my emotions in check and to not hope for too much.
Now if I had a financial stake in this team......thats another story

Show me the money

I move that we sign Gonzo, and go after a reciever in the draft. Work with sammie parker, and rehab priest. Go after a fullback who was as good as T-rich. Also, get a younger line. Less blitzs, more zone. Fire Herm the team killer, and the Chiefs are going to win the superbowl.

The main area of concern I have with CP is that he readily sacrifices draft choices (read: the future talent on the field) to get coaches he knows will do and follow what he says.

I completely agree with that. Not a bad stategy in the Buisness world, but a poor one on the football field.

I do not care for this line of reasoning.
To me, Samie Parker is pedestrian at best. Mr. Holmes appears to be done. Blitzes, zone, cover 2, all forms of exotic schemes, etc. etc. will not substitute for lack of talent and (I'm truly sorry to say) coaching inconsistancies. Don't get me wrong though.....I want Mr. Edwards to suceed, what fan would'nt?

What did you guys think of Jared Allen's comments last sunday about his school? I thought it was funny.
