As far as tornadoes, it is more to do of location than wise weatheman. The beginnings of tornado occur in Okla., Kansas/Colorado, and Texas. So they are late in the afternoon with still daylight. They occur over a relatively flat area, treeless and open. The storms generated here move east and end up hitting area there closer to sundown and further east well into the night. The terrain is more up and down and more forested and also more urban areas. The result is a lot more local driving forces from uneven terrain and not the easier landscapes of the High Plains. It is just easier to judge storms in Oklahoma.

Tornadoes occur all across the southeast and midwest.

Actually Archie is a weatherman in Witchita Falls - which is south of us about an hour and a half or so. I was just giving him some smack.
