I wonder if he'll lose his gig on 30 Rock? With enough exposure and public outrage, he could be Imus'ed from NBC.

I told you not to be stupid you moron.

Point is, we probably all did to some level. Sometimes I hear myself saying things to my kids that make me shudder afterwards. But they are tame in comparison to what my parents generation may have unleashed in abit of anger. The difference is now we are aware of what that type of talk on a continuous basis long term can do to the child.

And it's not just the 'self esteem movement' I'm talking about here. It's growing up in a dysfunctional and abusive enviroment. From prior media reports, Baldwin has quite the temper and Basinger is not the model of stability having suffered from anorexia herself.

The kid's white. There won't be any fallout.

I hope to christ you are kidding. No way this will effect his job. It was a personal family matter where no one got hurt and no one should have found out about it.

If the mouth breathing/helmet wearing kids of today can't handle tough talk then we've got real problems coming our way when they grow up.

You know, two months ago I would agree with you. But when the parent special interest group backlash hits, it wouldn't surprise me if he does end up paying for this professionally.

I would agree with you 100%. But the father/daughter relationship is very delicate and complicated thing. You want your daughter to be strong and self confident. Few fathers would agree that calling your daughter a pig will accomplish that.

No, he won't lose his job. He'll end up in 'rehab/therapy' for anger issues and his career will take another hit but he won't be Imussed.

But Baldwin aligns perfectly with your politcal agenda.

Am I wrong?

Precisely! How the fugg did the media get a hold of this voice mail anyways? Did the daughter record it and send it to NBC? Now that should piss him off even further.

Seriously though, he's been through a bitter, bitter custody and divorce battle with his ex and his daughter. It's been going on for quite some time. From what I understand, he called her several times that morning but she didn't pick up. This evidently infuriated him further which coincidentally made him leave this sort of verbal tirade on her voice mail.

The fact of the matter is- this is a private issue and I am disappointed in the media for even posting it. The media lately have been nothing but vultures and have been displaying an awful lack of civility.

Had Alec Baldwin been a conservative activist instead of a liberal one, the story would be "Actor and conservative activist....." blah blah blah.
