Seriously wtf is the defense to do when this shit happens for 13 games straight. They are just beat up and tired. Even if the Chiefs defense can hold themt o 10 points. WE STILL cannot win a game.

If they fire Guntharr thats fine with me, but for a team that has been on the field so damned much this year,i think he's doing a hell of a job.

Don't forget, that "nice little drive" required THREE 4th down conversions!!!!!!

Were they tired on the first drive when Selvin Young ripped them a new asshole?

I get your point, but Gunther has had 4 years here in his 2nd stint and it's been the same story every year.

There are a few things this team is doing right this season.

Me, I am not sold that Gun and Cover 2 are a marriage made in heaven.

I didn't say HOF players.

I said Pro Bowlers.

Those defenses had top flight secondaries, and great pass rushers.

And it's not 1997 anymore.

Some homer Chief fans, and Bob Gretz are about the only ones that hold on to any success in the 1990s anymore. No one gives a flying shit what happened in 1997 and 1995.

Gunther is a good coach when he has superior talent.

I'm just saying, do you think the teams problems really reside on defense?

I think if you throw this defense in with Vermeils offense it would be nasty, mostly because these guys would have a little time to rest.

Again, you can have problems on both sides of the ball. I know this is Kansas City, and we like to focus on one side of the ball, but there are massive problems on offense, but there are enough problems on defense for it to be a concern.

I haven't given up on Gun yet, just every on the offensive staff and ST.

So many arguments on this board are X vs. Y, and most seem to feel obligated to be on one side of the fence as if the two sides are mutually exclusive. This happens most often with players vs. coaches - who's worse, who's most responsible for failure, etc.

Isn't it very clear by now? The two are not mutually exclusive. The Chiefs have very little talent and are horribly coached! That goes for the defense less so than the offense but it's certainly true all the same. There's very little talent outside of a couple of great talents (although they both disappear and at times just completely stink), and the coaching is brutal.

The defensive backfield is the funniest position of all. You've got a clown in Goonther who does nothing but shout and scream at two crusty old mother-f**kers, a seventh-round baseball player and a second-round, should-be-a-backup-linebacker-or-break-dancer reach/bust. How the f**k is that sorry group gonna stop anyone?

Actually, our average TOP is somehow 30:02.

I was wondering about that, but I didn't know where to look for that information. That's a bit surprising, to say the least. I suppose that shoots that theory to shit.

Right. Peterson and Edwards -- how to divvy up the blame is irrelevant. They are both well below average at their respective jobs, and need to be shit-canned before this franchise can move forward.

i blame vermeil

Cunningham, Solari, Curl, and Peterson need to go. My fear is they will get replaced by stooges like Jimmy Raye or a member of Schottenhiemers family.

MahiMike 12-10-2007 10:46 AM

When do we fire Gunther? I'd say 2004.

i think hes done pretty well give that KC lacks in the backfield. i have a theory that when carl leaves and and herm gets fired along with gibbs steping down we might get a bona fide defensive coach.
jsut a thought that it could be comeing down the pipe.
