yeah, with pena, they had someone with a good chance of a K or a ground ball/GIDP, and virtually no chance of a walk. but they choose dejesus to face, who as you say will give a quality AB and will lead the team in walks in any given year... hard to figure that one out.

Filthy McNasty time!!!!

mariano jr. coming in

I told you guys the Royals would beat my Jays. David Eckstein has to be the worst defensive SS in the league.

Shelled him? Looked like a horrible error by Eckstein on a DP ball, and then a series of well-placed bloop hits. In any event, Royals>Jays.

Gload is such a clutch player.

some were inherited runners, but i struggle to find any other term of import when you let 6 runs in and don't get anyone out.

Like that a lot. Wish Zack could have got a win for his effort, but that's the way things go. Soria efficiently finishes off the last inning yet again.

He got a clean double play ball that his SS booted. The inning would have been over. Sorry, but this one is on David Eckstein, not Scott Downs.

Soria reminds me a lot of Mariano Rivera. He's going to be a good reliever in this league for a long time.

so, no demerits for not getting any of the next 6 batters or so I guess?

not beating up on him, he's a fine pitcher. perhaps the term was too strong.

The first out of the 9th he bailed out Pena on a very low throw. He is as good of a defensive 1st baseman as there is in baseball today.
