What are talking about? Guillen has been in and out of the lineup since the break and Butler hasn't sniffed the field. Also, DeJesus going down affects this because Hillman seems reluctant, for some unknown reason, to take Gload out of the lineup.

I think what he meant was that they are forcing guillen to play DH and quit whining about the field. I think he gets more rest at DH than being out there all day long in the OF. Yes he can play but he has been suffering at the plate. I'd prefer that he stays at DH for now...

Also the injury to dejesus might be a reason too

I just can't explain the feeling what it's like to still be paying close attention to these guys in August, this is great.

You are asking the wrong guy if you are looking for an explanation but both Hillman and Moore said yesterday the only reason Butler is playing at first is because they need Guillen's bat in the lineup and he can't play in the field. The moment Guillen can play in the outfield is the moment Butler moves back to DH.

Yeah, I edited my last post to speak to this point. This is probably the most accurate statement.

One thing seems certain, however, and that's Hillman loves him some Gload.

Coach 08-03-2008 01:22 PM

1-2-3 inning.

Word. I hadn't heard that.

It's vital that we keep either Gload or Teahen in the lineup. Great idea to decide now that a 21 or 22 year old kid is a DH.

I think it's time for Teahen to be shipped to Omaha for a few days. Worked well for Butler, so I don't see why not Teahen shouldn't get the same treatment.

What is astonishing about it is the reasoning by both Moore and Hillman use on why Butler can't play first. It's only because Butler doesn't have as much range and Gload and they just can't have that defensive liability on the field . Moore also said they have no intention of ever playing Butler at first except in inter league play. Meanwhile, when discussing the 1b position, Moore said we absolutely need a guy hitting 25+ HR's there. And yet he starts Gload every single day  . I don't want to doubt Moore as a GM but when he says things like this I kind of wonder...

Guillen. That'd draw some heavy ratings.
