Two cats, one male and one female. The male cat as I mentioned in Rain Man's thread is a great cat and loves people but is especially close to my wife. That cat is on her lap probably 75% of the time she is sitting down.
When I retire, I will get a dog. I would get one now, but I'm not home enough to be its primary care giver and I don't want the dog interfere with the thing she has going with the cat. |

My dad has a black lab mix and a golden retriever. I'd want his black lab mix. Sweet as can be, but a master escape artist. Not sure exactly what she's mixed with, but she's smaller than a normal lab. |
I also seriously considered tropical fish a few years ago, but satisfied that itch (at least temporarily) by learning everything I could about them, planning my aquarium, etc. After I had done all of that I didn't feel the need to actually experience the whole process. Besides I wouldn't think of fish as pets so much a cross between a science experiment and living art. Maybe a fish lover will come along and convince me otherwise.

With the loss of Jupiter, we still have O.J., our 15 year-old tabby. He's a sweetie and a deep thinker, the philosopher of the family. That doesn't mean that he's above chasing a belt across the room, though.
