Time to invest in one of those small TVs witha built in DVD player. Put it in his room, show him the button that opens and closes the dvd drive and the play button. Instant unexpected quietness.
We were dubious when my parents got my sone one when he was three, but we came around fast when he started to dissappear and when we thought he was quiet long enough that he must have committed a felony by then, only to go find that he has put in his own movie, got it started, and was engrossed in some movie he has seen 100 times already.
Icing on the cake was when we had our 2nd and she was able to do the same at just over 2 years old. He is 7 now and plays his DS when he wants a distraction, and she will just go into his room, put in her own movie and sit on the floor and play with the movie playing.
Those Disney movies with the fastplay or autoplay or something like that where there is no menu where you have to move to "Play" are the best.
