You would hate to tie a bunch of money into the offensive line, but you would tie a bunch of money into two quarterbacks:spock:

The Patriots would disagree.

That would be one hell of a turn of events.

We're building for the future but we're not going to concede the present. I'd be wholeheartedly in support of this decision.

Like I said, if I'm the GM, I'm never trading for Cassel. But since I am in this case, I'm unloading the sonofabitch after a year-long audition as a seat warmer.

It's not my fault the ****ing FO wants to ruin Glenn Dorsey and trade for a QB with less ability who came from a ****ing silver spoon offense.

With the 2nd pick in the 2009 ChiefsPlanet Mock Draft, the St. Louis Rams select:

Jason Smith, OT, Baylor University

The Chiefs are now on the clock.

Not as busy as I thought I'd be when I PM'd OTW last night. This is an obvious choice. The Rams are in desperate need of replacing Orlando Pace and were snubbed last year when Miami selected Jake Long.

Sam,

What part of "long term deal" did you not understand?

I personally think it's a long shot, but it is possible that Pioli felt that Cassel was the best option to QB this team for the next year, and that is all we're tied to contractually.

Drafting Stafford/Sanchez actually gives us the ability to tag/trade Cassel next year once the drafted QB is ready to go.

I can tell you this: If Cassel isn't signed to a long-term deal before the draft, there's at least a 50/50 chance, if not better that we go QB.

I don't see it happening, but I would too.

LOL

So if Hamas took over, he thinks the best course of action would be to trade a player we just traded for.

Nice. Your time as GM may be tumultuous.

Direckshun 03-02-2009 12:35 PM

Who EVER uses a 2nd on a one-year player?

UGH.

As opposed to moving the #5 overall pick from last year out of position. Yeah, it's clearly wild and crazy stuff.

Cassel is our 2nd rounder and basically is turning that into another first round pick. Thats not bad.

UGH.

We own his rights for two years b/c of the CBA expiration, genious.

Keep up.

Again, if he plays well, we can trade him for a higher price than what we paid.

I didn't trade for Matt Cassel, why should I have some kind of allegiance to him if it's ok for Pioli to show none to guys like Dorsey, who are 4 years younger, and actually have elite talent?

You can't undo time, dipstick. It's happened. You can't change it.

And as a result, congratulations, you've just spent your first two picks on QB.

Thaaaaaaaaaaaaat should rebuild us into contenders before long.

Sfeihc 03-02-2009 12:39 PM

With the fifth pick of the first round the Cleveland Browns select

Aaron Curry, LB, Wake Forest.

sorry I misspelled a word.

Mecca 03-02-2009 12:39 PM

It'll be about as fast as making half the guys we just drafted worthless so hey.
