It was a 32 yarder before the penalty.

So Nick the ****ing "most accurate kicker" missed a 42 yard field goal with the game on the line.

He's a ****ing LOSER. Alway was. Always has been. Always will be.

Dane is right somewhat.

Nick was a really awesome kicker for alot of bad Chiefs teams.

It's easy to hit from 50 yards when there's no pressure to win the game.

Are we thinking of a different kick then. I recall it being a 51 yard missed FG.

Nick Lowery, the man almost everyone would pick to kick it, was on the field waiting for the snap. If the kick succeeded, the Kansas City Chiefs would regain the advantage after blowing a big fourth-quarter lead in today's AFC wild-card game. If the kick failed, the Miami Dolphins would have capped a glorious comeback to win the game.
For the first time in 2 1/2 months, Lowery missed. After 24 consecutive field goals, Lowery watched as a kick he thought "was good enough to go in" dropped a foot or two short of the crossbar.
It was not good, and Miami, behind by 13 points in the fourth quarter, won 17-16.
Even though ...

I hate keekers. They are a crutch for when your team can't score a TD.

Here is a better article about it...

His final attempt could have come from 13 yards closer. But a holding penalty against David Szott, a rookie guard, a 3-yard loss by Christian Okoye, and an incomplete pass on third down forced the unsuccessful 52-yard attempt. And the Chiefs were left with a third consecutive playoff defeat since their most recent post-season victory, in Super Bowl IV, 21 years ago.

I will never, ever fault a kicker for missing a FG beyond 50 yards. Especially when the rest of the team failed on that series as well.

Really?

I would.

Totally.

It's not like it was "beyond his range".

Louie didn't tank HIS 54 yarder when the game was on the line! Go Louie!

I have always been forgiving of kickers on 50+ FG attempts. 40 and in is money. 40-50 the averages go down slightly. 50 and beyond the average plummets. I may not be happy about a 50+ miss but I won't hold it against them either. The team blew that series more than Nick did and Szott blew it more than the team did.

Nick blew it. Plain and simple. To blame it on a rookie is tenuous at best.

Nick blew it in 1989. He missed two field goals (one in regulation and one in overtime) that would have put the Chiefs at 9-7 and in the playoffs.

Marty wanted him gone then. His partying and lifestyle was a "bad influence" on the other players.
