Jason, you're being naive.

Cleveland has been trying to trade Edwards ever since Mangini took over. The Jets and the Giants were both rumored to be interested around the draft.

This alleged assault might have been the final straw, but it's far from the reason he's a Jet this morning.

thats exactly what i'm trying to say here. i'm sure they had problems, thats a given with the reports out there, but it seems like they finally tired of his act when he punched that guy and now is being looked at for the conduct policy.

I think that just happens to be the timing, they were trying to trade him regardless of that.

maybe, but i would say it didnt help the situation

The Bad Guy 10-07-2009 07:20 AM

The Browns got 3rd and 5th rounders from the Jets.

That's just highway robbery for the Jets. A special teams guy, a 3rd WR and 2 low picks for a guy who had 1600 yards 2 years ago.

These are the moves we should be making. I know we aren't one player away, but if you can get a young super talented player for low draft picks, Pioli should be throwing his hat in the ring.

I know it's unrealistic, but one can dream.

This.

You don't pull off trades like this in that short a timeframe.

They've been working on this for a while.

Hell, they've probably been talking on and off since the draft.

See, that's the thing Frank.

It's not unrealistic. It happened.

You're right, this is EXACTLY the kind of moves we should be making, but we didn't.

Why?

We all know the answer, and IMO, it's bullshit.

Christ, a team is giving away a 26 year old, 1600 yard WR, and we're not interested because he doesn't fit our personal profile?

Dick Vermiel's profile is back!

LMAO....

This is exactly how you put a young QB in a position to succeed.

Maybe next time, our FO will learn this lesson.

Mile High Mania 10-07-2009 07:34 AM

Great move by the Jets... in one offseason they get a defensive minded HC that revamps that side of the ball, while drafting your QBotF and now trading for a young stud #1 WR

The arrow is pointing up for the JETS. Edwards, Cotchery, Keller, T Johnes, Washington...

I just don't see how Mangini can surive for much longer... geez. They have nothing for a ground game... a QB debacle, they traded their TE in offseason and now this...

Ugly.

You didn't even count that they used another pick on Shonn Greene who is likely Jones replacement as the horse back next to Washington.

What the hell does this do to the value of Jerricho Cotchery in FF? Is Cotchery still the #1 or does he get bumped to #2?

Mr. Flopnuts 10-07-2009 07:46 AM

LeBron James called the mayor of Cleveland and asked him to intervene. There just wasn't room for both of them in that town.

It might actually help him with Edwards and Keller on the field together he'll always get singled up with the 2nd CB now.
