My advice, go to court pro se. Assuming it's his 1st ticket, they should offer a defensive driving class and a 6-month "probationary period".

My girlfriend's dad is an attorney. I'm not sure what he does, but he makes it where she pays a little bit more and the ticket goes doesn't go on her record or affect her insurance. If that is what you are worried about you might be successful. But I doubt you would be successful to fight the ticket itself - it's more pain than it's worth.

I got a ticket in Leavenworth KS for speeding 36 in a 20 school zone several years ago. Kicker was that the speed limit changed from 35 to 20 at 7:30am. I was on my way to work at about 7:20am but since I had out of state tags (was in the Army, in uniform at the time) the cops watch said 7:32 when I drove by. Cost me about $120 on that ticket. You gotta love that crap. Thankfully though that's probably my worst experience with cops. Most cops I have had dealings with have been stand-up guys doing their job.

Get a lawyer pay 300 bucks and it will disapper from your record.

I am sure that everyone posting all the "he was speeding, he deserved it, the cop was just doing his job" crap believed that they deserved every ticket they have ever gotten and were happy that their local police were out making the city safer. Some probably even protested when they were let off with a warning.
