Charles needs to be the every down back.

He has no chance. When he actually got holes last week he produced. This week there was NOTHING. Three yards and a cloud of dust was the best we could hope for.

I wish he could get three yards. Charles obviously runs with more heart.

Barret 10-11-2009 06:40 PM

Well what I saw with LJ today was he would run right into the line and not change direction or try to find a hole.

Yes the o-line sucks but LJ does not have the ability to change direction to bounce to the outside once the hole closes in the middle.

TheGuardian 10-11-2009 06:51 PM

Adrian Peterson would be getting his nuts kicked in behind this line. It's hard to fathom but this line is easily the worst I've ever seen in my entire lifetime of watching football.

Brian Waters is a shell of himself and Albert is having a slump. Albert is still a good player I don't care what anyone says. But from the center to the right tackle there is no push, there is no protection. So when you can't get any push from the center, which Niswanger can't, then the whole scheme breaks down.

Think about it from a defensive standpoint. If we had a defensive tackle that could collapse the center right into the backfield every snap, our defense would be able to....

a. stop the run
b. sack the QB because he would not be able to step up

Well, every week we make some nose tackle/defensive tackle tandem look like Jesus in cleats. When Niswanger and Goff are gone, the line will immediately improve. Hell, when Goff got hurt today Larry followed that up with his two longest runs. It's not a coincidence.

Might as well beat the **** out of the worthless bastard behind this piss-poor line and dump him like a dirty bar skank when the year is done.

We saw the same stuff 2 years ago. LJ could not find anywhere to run. Kolby Smith came into the game and made things happen behind the same damn offensive line that LJ couldn't make a yard behind. Kolby Smith... think about that for a minute.

Well, I can't believe I'm defending them, but take this into consideration...

They essentailly got a brand new playbook 2 weeks before the season and the current QB was hurt leading up to the season.

Meanwhile, new players are shuffled in and out which has to make it difficult for continuity.

They are thinking and playing passively. They have to react and attack and be instincive about the pickups they need when teams bring the blitz. They just don't pick up assignments well and you see that on TV.

Yes they are professionals and it shouldn't matter, but let's face it, they aren't super talented enough to get by on sheer athletic talent. They ARE likely good enough to be a decent line that works together, if they can get a little time in with this offense.
the talent needs upgarded to be sure, but they can play better.

LaChapelle 10-11-2009 06:58 PM

They need a young dumb full of cum running back to punish the defenders. LJ knows he can't afford injury.

DTHOF 10-11-2009 06:59 PM

It looked t me all day that they were plugging up the middle cause they knew LJ wasn't going to bounce it. Even if he doesn't get any extra yardage how 'bout bouncing one out there to a least show a threat of it.

Pablo 10-11-2009 07:01 PM

NO. KEEP HIM. HE OBVIOUSLY STILL HAS 'IT'.

mlyonsd 10-11-2009 07:08 PM

When PH got hurt LJ had the luxury of a very good offensive line. One that many backs would look good with. Same thing when he was at Penn State.

I don't think he really has the vision of a top tier RB.

Sure-Oz 10-11-2009 07:10 PM

Don't all rb's need a solid line to look good

The offensive line hamstrings Cassel worse than LJ. Jesus Christ ...

CHIEFS58 10-11-2009 07:14 PM

no explosion, no speed, no blocking skills. YOURE DONE, SON.

There has to BE a hole in order to FIND one. When the gaps are filled by the defenders, that makes the task rather difficult, if not impossible.
