Hey you know what, the 2001 Patriots at the time were also the "worst" NFL champs in NFL history, but they ended up establishing a dynasty. A W is a W, and we need to start finding players who are going to produce W's...

That offense was awesome with a ridiculously great running game. The defense was bad, but still....hhad you not had to play the colts you could have gone deep and maybe won the whole thing.

arrowheadnation 10-12-2009 11:56 AM

Ouch....touchy subject. I never said they were bad....not like "us" bad. I just said out of the remaining undefeated teams, in my opinion, they're the worst one left. Sometimes it takes luck to win games.

it sickens me to say it but the Broncos have overcome extreme adversity in the off season and are playing very good football.
They traded off their star QB, got a QB in there that everybody thought would lay down and do nothing. I hate em and hope they lose every week but they are making the most out of the talent on their team, unlike 2 other teams I can think of.

LMAO Was that a clip of Josh McDaniels at his last job right around the :30 mark?

My only hope is that they turn into the NY Jets of a couple of years ago and are a one year wonder.

I hate that the Chiefs are o-fer but to add red hot salt to the wound is Denver being undefeated.

I know there's a whole chicken and egg effect when it comes to discussions like this, but neither New England nor Dallas looks like a legit contender this year. I still think Denver will struggle against teams like the Giants and Colts. I predict Denver makes the playoffs, but loses their first game. But, you never know when they might get a couple of lucky bounces, so their making it to the big game isn't out of the realm of possibility.

I'm more worried about their long-term prospects honestly. They're young and improving. They could be scary in the next 5 years. Dammit.

Nobody knows... you're prediction is based on what you hope happens. Just like those that predict a mid/late season fade. This isn't the Broncos' team of the last few years. Nobody knows what they will be in a month... they could be 5-5, 7-3, 6-4...

The Cowboys certainly have their issues - I think a lot of it is their coach, they have a lot of very nice players. And the Pats aren't legit contenders? Get outta here with that craziness...

They're a bit out of synch with Brady at times, but they're still very good. Their Oline took a hit yesterday, their ground game has no true threat (but that's nothing new, they've never really had a consistently dominant RB) and they have a liability in the secondary with Springs... but, they're still very good.

If Denver can win @ San Diego this week - and that's a huge IF ... we all know how the AFCW divisional home games fare most of the time ... but IF Denver can beat the Chargers on Monday Night, then the sky is the limit.

If Denver can walk into week 7 with a 4 game lead in the division... many will point to 2008 and say "it can happen again", but I don't see that kind of quit in this team.

But, I won't worry about that until after the game. San Diego is a huge threat on their home grass... we'll see. The Chargers have defeated the Raiders and Dolphins (combined 2-7) ... losing to the Ravens and Steelers (combined 6-4).

I definitely like Denver's chance to win in week 6, but it certainly won't be easy.

ROFL Ohhhh, so that's what you were saying... I thought you were asking if they were simply the worst 5-0 team in NFL HISTORY... not of those remaining undefeated teams in 2009.

The thread title was just to reel you in ;) I'm sitting here bored at work...just figured I'd spark up a little banter.

Ok...so they're probably not the worst in history, but I'd call them the worst undefeated team left this season. There are a lot of 1 loss teams I'd take over them. They have 2 legit wins against horrible opponents and their other 3 are come from behind luck-outs. This is just my opinion, but I doubt I'm in the minority.

Sometime we'll say anything to justify the donkeys being good in our brains won't we.

This. It just ain't fun right now. I might get fired up before December though...

This kind of petty jealousy really doesn't make you look good, you know that of course?

Pioli Zombie 10-12-2009 12:25 PM

The '74 Patriots started 5-0 and ended 7-7. The '87 or '88 Chargers, forget which startrd out like that and ended up .500 I think. Denver is playing over their heads, but there have been worse.
