If Haley let go of his o-coordinator and demoted his WR's coach all in the same season, you don't think he'll fire his d-coordinator if by the end of the season he doesn't see some improvement????

Are we on the same planet?

Greg Robinson was terrible.
Gun Cunningham was terrible.
Clancy Pendergast is terrible.

All three have more knowledge of defense than the entire board does combined.

I want consistency. Let the players get comfortable in the 3-4. Let the players mature in the 3-4. Add some talent to the 3-4. Then we will see if Pendergast can get it done or not.

We had consistancy from Gun. He was here... what... five years without looking it up.

And I agree we do need consistancy. But it needs to be with the right guys.

Think about all the things he's said this season, when he talks about "the right 53" and how "it takes time to get players to buy into the system and do things the way we want them to" and then he talks about Mike Brown being one of his favorite players....

So I guess I'm calling it now, Clancy will be the DC in 2010.:banghead:

Yep. It has the same "feel" as Vermeil and Greg Robinson all over again.... :shake:

I hope I'm wrong, but lack of talent could become an excuse for not making a change at DC....even if Clancy will just never quite get it done.

The best chance for replacing Clancy, is for Haley to flame-out--which, at this rate, is a possibility.

I hope I'm wrong by a mile.

THIS

You guys are nuts if you don't think the same guy that tossed his coaches from practice won't demote Clancy in a heart beat if Crenell or similar become available. You're projecting too much "Dick Vermeil" onto Haley. Not the same guy and Clancy is not his Greg Robinson.

You may be right but 5 years isn't long in the grand scheme of things. Especially when you switch coaches in between that 5 year span, and switch D schemes yet again.

Jilly 10-28-2009 10:12 AM

I hope he doesn't decide he needs to be the DC as well.:banghead:

Actually, this is why I like the base defensive scheme coming from the GM, who (recent history tells us) is very likely to oulive this coaching staff, and perhaps several more. We won't be having to rework the defense to match each coaching style, we will hire coaches that match the style of defense our GM wants us to play.

I think , longterm, this approach has more merit.
