You guys shouldn't be so pessimistic about this. The Chargers under Norv ALWAYS start slow. Every year, they make it a point to address the slow start, yet it still happens.

10 wins. 3 years. A starting offense that has scored a whopping 24 points in 3 games. But yeah, you're right. We should ignore all that. CHIEFS ELEVENTY-BILLION CHARGERS NEGATIVE 4 |

This is why the Bolts beat dat a$$ :
Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers Analysis: He's the biggest reason the Chargers stay ahead of the other AFC West teams. A great leader, Rivers is fearless throwing to tight end Antonio Gates and other pass-catchers even when they appear to be covered. Arrow is pointing: Up Matt Cassel, Kansas City Chiefs Analysis: Cassel showed in New England that he can be a playoff-caliber quarterback if he's surrounded with pass-catchers with yards-after-the-catch ability. He lacks the downfield arm to stretch a defense, but if the Chiefs get him more playmakers, Cassel could thrive. Chance of being elite: 0 percent |
We'll be lucky to score 10.

This game reminds me of last year's season opener, with Croyle at quarterback against Baltimore on the road. As I recall that game was tied at 24 with less than 5 minutes to go, despite the fact that the Baltimore offense was moving the ball at will and the Chiefs offense was completely inept. It ended up 38-24 thanks to two late scores, but they were still in it with under 3 minutes to go.
That's exactly the kind of wacky game I'm thinking of when I predict KC winning 30-27. The Chiefs shouldn't win the game. There's no logic to it at all. They're completely outmatched and were utterly destroyed twice last year. But weird things just seem to happen the first week or two of the season in the NFL. |
Chargers are a lot better than us, I just hope we can keep it close

21-17 Chiefs.
1 pick 6 by Berry coming across the middle covering Gates and is unseen by Rivers till its too late. Flowers snags another off a tip and returns it to just within field goal range. Hali has 1 1/2 sacks and causes a fumble on one of them. Basically special teams and turnovers keep the game close and we make a couple big plays on offense (rac yards) to score a late touchdown to go up and we seal the deal on their final drive with a sack strip by either Studebaker or Hali to close it out and start the year on a high note. Flame away |

Chargers 34
Chiefs 16 1 TD + 3 field goals Touchdown is scored on special teams Chargers stack the LOS to stop the running game and short passes. We are forced to open the passing game up which we didn't practice in the first 3 preseason games. Haley/Weis refuse to open up the offense so it's run, run, pass, punt. We don't start passing on 1st down until the 2nd half when we are already down by 21 points. Defense gets a stop on the first 2 series but then start wearing down because of the O's 3 and outs and then Ryan Mathews goes berserk and runs for 180 yrds. |
I just read that the Chargers have the longest current streak of scoring at least 1 touchdown in a game. 117 games dating back to 2002.
All this means is I'm fairly certain we will score at least one TD. |
