Cassel will step up and make you all forget drafting a QB.

Kidding !

DeezNutz 09-11-2010 09:11 PM

Playing now.

Doesn't have a great arm. Some not-so-great moments in the first quarter.

(Gabbert will be a better pro, not even close.)

DeezNutz 09-11-2010 09:13 PM

Poor throw. Hasn't been very accurate thus far.

Must have been importing last night.

KC kid 09-11-2010 09:39 PM

I don't see it. Stafford was a much better prospect in my mind.

Wreckloose 09-11-2010 10:07 PM

Why compare him to Stafford?

KC kid 09-11-2010 10:09 PM

I am just comparing him to other top rated qbs last few years. He is not as good as bradford and stafford

Mecca 09-11-2010 10:11 PM

Luck doesn't have Staffords tools, that's why I think he might fall a bit on draft day, he doesn't have the natural ability some of these guys do.

I gree with Mecca for once. I would not be shocked to see Locker or a surprise QB candidate emerge as the favorite to be the number one pick.

Luck is the heady/smart player that doesn't have great tools. That isn't to say he won't be a good or even great NFL player but things like that do usually affect guys on draft day.

KC kid 09-11-2010 10:47 PM

I think Luck benefits from having had a great running game and a great QB coach (Harbaugh). I wonder what he would do in a different situation

KCrockaholic 09-11-2010 10:49 PM

The guy has terrific command of the offense, and he knows how to read a defense. I like a lot of his intangibles. I think he needs to stay in school 1 more year at least. His footwork is fantastic, and his release is top notch. If he went pro after this year, I think it would be a mistake. But I'd love to have him if he goes pro his Junior year. Very smart player.

CaliforniaChief 09-11-2010 10:51 PM

He's definitely got the intangibles to QB in the NFL. He seems to be a bit quick to run and his accuracy's been a bit off. I think kcrockaholic is right. Another year.

Rock wants 2 more years of suckage and more Cassel!

lol no! I've said before on here that I'd love for us to draft Ryan Mallett.

I've really keyed on him tonight. He's one of my 7 players that I've chosen to "watch" throughout the year.

What stands out to me is that first of all, he's a RS Sophomore, and he already knows how to read a defense. He works from a pro style offense. He does lock onto his #1 option a lot, and doesn't always look off his guy. He has very smooth feet. He has a tendency to miss high when he misses, and that is because during his release his stride is too long. If he shortens his stride, and makes it more consistent, rather than having a perfect stride on one pass, and a short stride on another, that will go a long ways towards his development.

I loved how he squared his shoulders on that pass during the rollout to the left. Great decision, and great throw.

I think 1 more year, and he will be a legit top 20 draft pick depending on his development.
