Impala windshields should be very cheap. My buddy is an auto body supply salesman and says they buy common Chevy vehicle windshields in bulk and they come cheaper that way.

Bargain with the shops and pay cash.

Run it into a hot dog cart
to get it above the deductible

That was my situation. Cost about $250.

Just replaced my windshield on Friday. $160 on a ford fussion. Not bad at all.

My first thought when I saw that Frazod started this thread? He prematurely discharged his fire arm when he spilled his beer and spit cup onto the floor.

Glass coverage in Tucson is about $15/month. I'd need to replace my windshield every 10 months to justify that. It's ridiculous. I might be able to justify it since I am an absolute magnet for rocks. I get a new ding every 4 month or so. I think at the time that I replaced mine a couple months ago, i had 7-8 of them. My wife's car has gotten 2 in the last 6 months while I was driving.

I just checked - I think the crack is too long now. The website said it must fit within the size of a dollar bill.

****. :cuss:

Do you get pitted windshields from the sand, though? It may not be a big crack, but it really lowers one's visibility when the windshield has a billion tiny sand dings in it.

Check junkyards. Got a windshield for my 02 camaro in good shape for $40 bucks and a local place installed it for another $40

In Florida, statute 627.7288 dictates that your deductible does not apply to windshield damage. However, you must have either comprehensive or collision coverage.

NYPDiddy 09-07-2010 08:06 AM

If you were in the NY area, I have a guy who does a great job, and not that expensive.

Do you have window insurance for your vehicle? Doesnt raise your rates.

Frazod 09-07-2010 08:11 AM

Looks like this is going to cost me around $210. Of course, my deductible is $250.

Oh well. Life's a bitch in the big city.
