Rivers did throw the ball 17 more times than Cassel did, and we were in zone for most of the second half thanks to the lead. Not that I think Cassel would've gotten 200 more yards with 17 more attempts, but let's not lose sight of Rivers' 9-17 for 77 yard first half, when the KC defense was being a little more aggressive.

(That's not excusing Cassel, it's just looking at the situational layout of the game...)

Can we count on special teams TDs all season?

We'll need a lot more in the future. I won't kill Matt tonight. I don't think he was helped by the coaching staff.

Hard to pass the ball when they don't give you many opportunities.

Yes. Play well enough to win. Whatever THAT takes.

It was pathetic watching Cassel being interviewed immediately after the game, glowing with pride as if he did anything significant to contribute to this victory.

Memo to Cassel... when you only have 5 more yards passing than the millions in your fat contract ($63 million) that is pretty sad.

Cassel didn't look great and he didn't look real bad. I would Love to see better QB play, Loooove it.

But, look at Manning's numbers, look at Cassel's numbers then look in the win column. Now I feel better.

This game was 1 turnover away from being a loss. Fortunately we didn't turn it over and you have to give our team props for that.

Not even 24 hours after a great win and we already have one of these threads. Figures.

The passing game must improve, no doubt about that.

Yes. Dude should have been glum, since he didn't put up great individual stats.

You're a little sad because you're realizing the Broncos are actually worse than you expected, aren't you?

In all fairness, the Chargers O-line was holding like a mother trucker on nearly every single pass play down the stretch. Pretty hard to get much pressure when you have been on the field all night, and get held to boot.

If our O-line will be allowed to hold like that, maybe we will be able to have our receivers get some seperation like the Charger receivers had.

Or if we had a receiving threat so *&#%ing dangerous that THREE defenders were shitting themselves on each snap, allowing for single coverage on everyone else....

The wide open receivers were due to blown assignments. Young secondary + absolute fear of Antonio Gates = a couple of wide open plays.

And some serious friggin' holding that gave Rivers a lot more time than he should have had. I heard a report last week that said they thought O-linemen would get away with more holding due to the umpire being moved to the backfield. I believe it after last night. 61 and 66 held damn near every single play.
