It shouldn't be about how many people you can get a gift for but that seems to be what it has become.

I have gone out for deals the last 4 or 5 years. Worth it, IMO. Prob won't do it this year. Lack of a job/extra money. Although, nowadays Amazon gets word of the other stores sales prior to Black friday and the whole week before they price match most of the shit, so just buy it off Amazon if you can.

Yeah, you can find out what is on sale here http://bfads.net/

Then just go to Amazon about a week before to see if they've price matched yet

BLACK FRIDAY TIP: (At Target Stores)

Buy what you want from the Black Friday Ad on Wednesday before Thanksgiving and pay full price.

Their policy is that if something goes on sale up to 7 days after purchase, they will make a price adjustment with just your receipt in hand.

This way you beat the crowd, and get that 46 inch TV for 450 dollars.

(This coming from a former Target Store Manager)

My wife in all her infinite wisdom went to Black Friday with her sisters when she was HAMMERED a couple years ago. She was pleasant the next morning.

Christmas as a religous holiday is good. Christmas as an opportunity to get with family is good. Christmas as a giant production and a competition for who gives the best gift is horrible. FFS if everyone would just get together, eat, enjoy family and praise the birth of Christ, life would be good. But it never seems to be that. Its always about how late we are or how somebody isn't doing it right. Or the presents look like crap. Or someones present sucks. Or. Or. Or. ... **** it all ends up being stressful and completely destroys the intent of the holiday.

Have to work an 11 hour shift on Thanksgiving. **** Cracker Barrel.

I work that day. I fix retail computer equipment but the merchants won't call anything in unless its an emergency. There is too much money to be made and they don't want any distractions.

I used to never shop online. Now it's basically how I get every gift I give to people.

I figure we've got roughly a decade before Amazon and Google own absolutely everything.

I go out and fight the crowds for a few deals each year. It is kinda fun to me as it is a once a year deal. I have saved a few thousand dollars since I have done it and had fun at the same time. I am up early most days anyhow so it works for me.

I prefer working on holidays and volunteer for them everytime a paid holiday comes up. Making triple time goes alot further for my family than standing in queue for hours on end with people I don't know or care to know just to save an extra $20-30 bucks on a couple pieces of chinese made electronic junk.

That's why as an adult Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. You get together, eat a huge feast, watch football, maybe play catch or some board games, and everyone has the day off.

KCBOSS1 11-13-2010 10:07 AM

Well, I hate getting up early....I enjoy watching some of these folks go nuts, it's comical and I enjoy the about $800-1000 that I save for Christmas. I've only actually been once, but I enjoy my wife going. But it's like MMA on aisle 5 and that's pretty funny. For real.
