He's best as a supporting character or small doses (Eastbound and Down). I cannot see him carrying a movie, and considering the comedic ability of his costars in this, it looks like he's expected to do exactly that. Plus the whole premise looks pretty lame to me.

Drew over at Hitfix loved it.....says it plays like a parody of all the bad 80's sword and sorcery flicks....

Pineapple express was fantastic! I don't understand the hate for that movie.

This is one of the films for which I'll be glad I work at a movie theater and can see it for free: I'll wander in, watch it half-asleep, perk up (pardon the pun) at the Natalie Portman scenes, and then go back to being half-asleep.

But I liked it too. I expect the same here. I'm kind of a fantasy geek, and a big fan of crude humor. And odds are, I'll be watching it with a buddy or two... and a pretty good buzz goin'. And that's the way a movie like this should be seen.

without the brilliant stoner acting by James Franco, I probably wouldn't have liked Pineapple Express. I've seen it dozens of times and it's always funny. I do smoke a ton of weed and a lot of that stuff is familiar and I'm pretty sure that they were actually high during that film, making the realism even better.

I have no desire to see this movie. This is all I need.

My favorite part of the movie was the opening scene. Rest of the movie was meh.
