Weis isn't leaving Florida. His wife loves Ocala, his son loves UF and he's OC at one of the top 5 college football programs in the country.

Um..wat?

Well at least those two are. Cheaters. :D

Wow, this sounded just like Mecca right before Pete Carroll went to Seattle.

If Mecca comes back again I say we bludgeon him to death with a log chain for being an Angels fan.

I don't care about your past success. Right now, they are not a top 5 program in college football. The Meyer and Spurrier days are over.

Good call on Weis not leaving.

And you should toast a glass to the heavens for it as well. That offense stunk. And he never has been really able to build around the strengths of his players. Maybe the first or second game against garbage he looked good, but other than that, the only good thing was the "Tebow up the middle" play was finally put to rest, a couple years after Tebow left.

The offense was awful. It was also awful the prior year. Weis really didn't have much to work with. The only positive I see is that Weis was a big Brissett fan and didn't seem to like Driskel. Now it should be an even competition. Unfortunately, and what I dislike the most, is this will be the 3rd OC in as many years for the team. We need some stability.

Right now they are not a top 5 team. No doubt. Not even top-25. However, the program is still a top 5 program. It takes a while for an entire program to decline. People said the Spurrier days were over when he left. That was right. Instead it led to the Meyer days and 2 NC's. Now it's the Meyer days are over. Right again. I have faith in Muschamp to bring us back to the top.

As for saying Weis isn't leaving - shame on me for taking a coach at his word. I should have learned from Urban not to trust anything a coach says. Two weeks ago Weis was quoted as saying:

“I'm going to coach for a long time,” Weis said. “My wife said I can't quit. That's not (an issue). Remember, I've got a kid who's a freshman in college here. Remember the reasons I came here. I'll be here for a while, unless you're trying to get rid of me.”

As an OC. Not as a HC.

Honest question: Is it possible there were rumblings that they wanted to get rid of him? It doesn't seem like he's been too successful down there.

Hammock Parties 12-08-2011 07:05 PM

No way Haley and Weis can coexist in the same town.

tk13 12-08-2011 07:06 PM

I like Weis... he has an ego but a lot of people in football do. Nice aggressive hire. I really do think he's a top shelf offensive coach. I also think he's a good fit in the Big XII too because there are a lot more teams that play shootout offense and mediocre D.

My only concern is does he have the drive to recruit at this stage. That's a big concern. Especially in a place where he can't sell the Notre Dame tradition or the fact all the games are on national TV.

I doubt it. Some people were unhappy, but they need to realize he had no QB, an awful OL, and 2 midget but super-fast (and super-fragile) RBs. Not much to work with there.

KU is paying him a shit-ton of $$ so that's likely why he left.

Deberg_1990 12-08-2011 07:28 PM

IM still amazed at the job Mangino did overall at KU. I mean, dude managed to win a BCS game at KU. Thats pretty amazing when you consider the sad football history of KU.
