Yup.

An irrational bias is in place against Pioli right now, so that he's pretty much damned no matter who he brings in.

Finally someone gets it. The odds of a coach winning a Super Bowl are slim to none, no matter where they come from. The logic of not wanting a coach who has already won a Super Bowl is just faulty. It will happen someday.

So you're using the law of averages as a legit argument for ignoring odds that are heavily against success?

I bet we could get a majority to favor taking Belichick off your hands for ya.

I just think it is dumb to say, "hey, lets totally ignore EVERYONE that has had success coaching in this league (won a Super Bowl) because no one has ever taken another team to a Super Bowl."

I don't find it faulty at all. Its hard to win a Super Bowl. The coach has to get everything lined up in the organization. Its hard to do that in two different places. It takes a lot of drive, which I don't think that someone who has been there is able to get back up to. The list is pretty short for coaches to even take two franchises to the SB. Dan Reeves lost for two different franchises. The other thing working against these coaches is age. If you won a Super Bowl, then you've bought yourself at least some job security. The list of ex-coaches are all in their 50s except Gruden who is 48. Billeck is almost 60.

You have to give Chucky credit for 1 thing. He's the only coach in the history of football to get 2 teams to the Super Bowl in the same year.

"No NFL head coach has won a Superbowl with 2 teams"

That make Crennel perfect, then. He hasn't won jack.

Fair enough and some valid points.

Although I am not opposed to a coach who has won a Super Bowl, something tells me Pioli's ego won't allow him to bring in a coach that has won because they will want too much control. So we are likely beating a dead horse by arguing about this.

Hope Cowher will be the first with the Chiefs.

Eh, maybe. Can't tell you how many times I've seen some variant of this:

"the Patriot Way is getting lucky with a Sixth Round QB being one of the all-time best." /ChiefsPlanet

And let's be honest, since 2004 Belichick's record is more Marty-like than Marty. Tremendous regular season success with an inability to bring it home. Pats have more regular season wins in the NFL than anybody since the start of 2008, with not a single playoff game win to show for it, despite HOSTING two of those games.

Even Patriots' nation is becoming somewhat restless.

What a dreadful, sad story... two weeks before Christmas too. I feel so badly that I want to ship you a 4"x4" to shove straight up your ass.
