I may be jaded by this type of media on Martz.

He has been under severe fire, in some kind of controversy at all of his recent stops. Detroit, San Francisco, and now here in Chicago. In fact that was a light sampling, it was pretty strong for a while until Cutler developed wings on his feet.

So if he is going to bring that kind of baggage, what do you get in return? I just don't see the upside.

this guy got WAY too much credit for the greatest show on turf. 2 bonafide hall of fame players and 2 maybe's. It wasn't him.

or 3 HOF players, forgot about Pace

Martz at arrowhead? The greatest show on Dirt

Faulk was awesome at wide reciever and running back. Jamaal can't spell Wide Receever.

Those philosophical differences being he was about to get shitcanned.

I wouldnt put Charles on Faulks level as a receiver, but he's proven to be very Faulk-like at times... adjusting to wild throws, catching with his hands... he's definitely a cut above most backs in the receiving department.

As far as the whole Martz thing though, as good as he can be at designing a passing game... we dont need that guy, head coaches have to put a gun to his head to make him run the ball.

He can certainly find QBs... of course once he gets them in there he doesnt protect them at all and usually gets them killed, but that's a minor detail.

That’s what I’ll always remember him for, going 5 wide/empty backfield way too often and getting his quarter backs nearly kilt.

See, now that is the only real upside I see to them bringing him here.

yep ... Martz just couldn't stand not sending 5 WR out in a pattern and getting his QB hit on every dam play.

want no part of him

whoman69 01-03-2012 05:56 PM

Anyone who runs Marshall Faulk 9 times in the Super Bowl, I want no part of. He's too much of a genious for the NFL.

Martz owes his career to Dick Vermeil.

Infidel Goat 01-03-2012 06:36 PM

Those who give credit to Dick Vermeil over Mike Martz for the Greatest Show on Turf are simply wrong. I lived in St. Louis at the time, and Martz (and Saunders in KC) deserve(s) the offensive credit for those squads. Vermeil was about to be run out of town until the offense came alive under Martz.

I have nothing against Vermeil, but Martz was the mind behind that offense. It helps that he had some good toys. We have some toys in KC right now, so I wouldn't be against Martz if we upgrade at QB and RT...
