I could see going to 14 teams IF - you pick them all as you would the wild cards. Then you would have fewer losing teams in the race. The 7-9 teams are the ones that win shitty divisions. Downside: if the NFL season expands, player injuries will start to make more of an impact on the playoffs than they already do.

Terrible ****ing idea.
SONFL? FIRE GOODELL? |
I could understand it if they were to expand which is certainly a possibility.

I've always felt that 12 teams, whether in a 28 team league, or a 32 team league, was too many teams in the playoffs.
Expanding the playoffs is just a stupid ****ing idea. |

The real answer is this will lead to more games and more TV money. The owners have realized they can keep squeezing this goose because people love football. Wonder how far back this would push the Super Bowl into February.
It really just depends on the year. If it was 16 teams, the 6-7 Jets would currently be in the AFC playoffs, and the 9 seed Cleveland Browns would be the first team out right on their heels. Most of the league would still be in the hunt at this point. |

Might as well make it 24 teams. That way, everybody will know who is going to make the playoffs before the first games when you include almost everybody but the worst teams who can't seem to ever find a way to drag their pitiful asses into our brand-new, ginormous playoff system. Other than more money to the NFL, I don't see the benefit here. FAX |

The playoffs should be reserved for the best teams that earned the right to compete for the championship. We have teams that get hot late in the season winning championships despite a fairly mediocre season on a fairly consistent basis. |
I would just like to take a moment to say that I fully recognize that my previous post makes no sense whatsoever.
Thank you for your time and attention. FAX |

I don't think Goodell understands what a grind a NFL season is for a player. Teams are trying to survive filling the injuries they have now. Goodell can't have his 18 game season, so he wants this now?
IMO many moves that Goodell has made are for the good of the game, things that Tagliabue ignored. This fascination for a longer schedule is idiotic. |
