Hell No, we've never gotten Christmas bonuses. Our company has laid one employee off and made one go "independent contractor" in the last 60 days. We have less than 10 employees total. They didn't even have a Christmas party for us this year, we have to plan our own pot luck (which we did), and it will be better than some schmooze fest at Houlihan's or whatever anyway. I'm on vacation soon till after New Years. Can't wait to take off.

Yeah, I did get a fairly decent one considering I've only been with my current employer for a little over a month. What's funny is my former employer was far more financially better off but they didn't give out squat.

so does the Christmas bonus that finally made you make your mind up

I get an excellent performance based bonus every year but it doesn't show up in my bank account until April.

For Christmas, the company typically gives out like $25 gift certs to Sam's Club/Walmart.

Yeah, but everyone gets to go to the party, not everybody gets a bonus. For the part time staff, the bonus would be fairly de minimis. If it's giving them $50 or having a party where we have raffles for a couple of nice televisions as well as a dessert competition where we'll have prizes, etc..., our part time staff has generally sided with the party.

That makes sense. I forgot about the riff-raff, I mean - part time employees.

And there's no way I could justify springing for the Pace Car edition. C'mon, man - that would just be extravagant.

Yeah, but check out that hot teal paint with the pink accents. Pretty tough to pass up.

Groundlings, Frosty.

They prefer to be called groundlings.

Because they've been ground under the heel of "the man"?

For the last few years we've received $50 gift cards to Publix, which buys my traditional prime rib Christmas dinner.

CrazyPhuD 12-13-2012 04:01 PM

Does a Christmas hummer count?

Hammock Parties 12-13-2012 04:03 PM

I'm not sure. Last year I got an extra few hundred bucks that I wasn't expecting. So maybe. I don't look gift horses in the mouth so...I didn't ask about it. :D

Rasputin 12-13-2012 04:09 PM

I got a coupon for $10.00 off for a ham or turkey.

Do you send your company/boss a thank you note in return?
