Coaches have burned bridges with other teams in the past though. |

Since we don't really know the details yet, I don't know that we can even really evaluate what the conditions are that we would be backing out of.
I think it's safe to assume that a verbal agreement is in place, though, which would be a major dick move to back out of. |
I'm hoping whatever the deal is that we didnt offer him an extension.
Doesn't he have 2 yrs left of his contract? |
I wish, but we deserve aids for making it.

1. No contract has been signed, therefore no deal.
2. No way the NFL can penalize anybody. 3. 49ers leaked the trade so screw them. I hope the Eagles figure out there is no market for Foles at the price they are asking and we trade a 3rd for him. |
 The team doesn't want to back out. Fans, outside of this place, don't even want us to.

maybe the deal had a clause that the Cheifs had until 'X' date to void it. or something along the lines of an official shit or get off the pot deal.
I mean, if you're the Niners and along comes the Chiefs who offer up the 34 and a 2nd (reportedly) next year for a guy you're going to cut anywya......and one of their caveats is some sort of expiration date etc, the Niners would be stupid not to take it. worse case, they cut Smith and save $. Best case, the Chiefs can't back out and you get a haul for a POS QB. |
because it won't happen
it was a gentleman's agreement...some people have integrity I hope Reid and Dorsey have integrity...if they agreed to the deal, they agreed to the deal. I didn't like the deal but if they agreed to something, they agreed to something. |

The same sources that reported the Smith trade said that KC had made a major commitment to Smith. That says long-term deal.
|
Wait, let me get this straight:
People actually believe that the Chiefs traded for Alex Smith because they thought they had no opportunity to sign Bowe and Albert, therefore, drafting a QB at #1 overall was off the table because LT was more important? What? |
