If its really 8 a QB isn't out of the question I would guess. The Albert tag changed my thoughts on what they were doing big time. They've both definitely stacked QB on the past so you never know.

He used to be a scout for Reid and knows what kinds of things he looks for and was basically blowing kisses to Geno during their on stage discussion with him after he ran his 40.

On that same show, ***** tells Reid "don't be so locked into a quarterback"

Since then, we have locked up all the guys that could have gotten replaced by the top pick.

Is it possible that the oceans are parting for this regime to take a chance at Geno at 1, but have hedged their bets with Alex Smith in case Geno just doesn't get it?
