But I've found the treatmentof RGIII to be dubious at best, to be honest. My first reaction is always to dismiss this kind of bitching. And I agree he wouldn't be getting treated like this if he was performing better - his poor play is the root cause of the issue. But I do think there is some truth to the fact that he's getting a little more of the 'this kid needs to learn his place and shut up' treatment because he's a black QB. Wilson isn't getting crap because he's a minority that's playing extremely well. But I do wonder if a guy like Luck or Tannehill would be taking these kinds of arrows had they struggled like RGIII has. Tannehill's locker room has been a complete cluster!@#$ and we don't hear people blasting his leadership.

In this particular instance, I do think it's fair to ask if there haven't been some racial overtones to some of the things said about RGIII. Is that why he was benched? Nah, I don't think Shanahan's a racist. But I do think his PR has been disproportionally negative because of it.

Recently I saw RGIII being called a prima donna and I wondered where that came from. How many QBs are called that? Rivers I guess but the media just spins that into his 'fire to win.' WRs often gets called divas...guess it's better than calling them "uppity."

PS: and Cam's bad attitude. I may just be looking at this with blinders, but what white QBs get called for attitude? Ryan Leaf??? OK, Cutler for sure.

The media, as you may have noticed, is sensationalist. They write what sells.

Maybe it has more to do with RGIII not getting it done.

Oh, right... you know what is reported about him. Cam was a young QB. He has to grow. The point is that this narrative seems to be saved exclusively for QB's who fit a certain criteria.

It's the same reason Bray is on our team now. These are young guys. People forget that we're asking 21-23 year old's to be the leadership of a multi million dollar business.

When they're productive QB's don't get called out on their bull$#it.

It's when they suck that guys like Cutler, Cam, Ruthlessrapist, and even Brady this year get talked about.

...and RGIII really tore up the opponent the week before.

I think his problem is 3 fold. I think he came back too soon from his knee injury, he's suffering from a sophomore slump and teams have defended the zone read better this year, and I think he isn't putting in the time this year.

The narrative sure wasn't "They're a selfish me-first diva". Only QB's that fit a certain criteria get that label.

This is also part of the false narrative... that Cousins is good. He turned the ball over 3 times in that game against a terrible defense.
