Yep. I don't understand hwy speeding. It's the in city speeding that gets you 45 in a 35 or 50 in a 40.

My Ram, has a pretty small engine (4.7) compared to the huge frontal area of the truck, so that little motor really works hard at higher speeds, especially into the wind.
At 75, it will get about 10mpg in 4th, but at 65 it gets about 15 in 4th. It is a stick, so 5th gear is basically overdrive and really kills it. It gets better mileage at 3000rpm in 4th than it does at 1800 rpm in 5th when it is lugging.

I go 5 miles over the limit in good weather. Most cops are told to target 5+...

5-7 miles over haven't had a ticket since high school. Doesn't mean I don't speed every once in a while. I have done over a 100 mph every once in a while.

Other.

I drive around in BFE where are no cops :D

Real answer is none.

I use an app called Waze.... Most people report where the cops are hidden with it.

That ended it, but they sure enjoyed the shit out of their payback while it lasted. I want one of those...

btw, you forgot the Gaz option.:)

Tracking radar, the military has the cool toys.
In the HAWK system we called it the HPI, High Powered Illuminator. The HPI also had a TAS Camera, Tracking Adjunct Sensor. We could get a visual lock on just about any target then slave the HPI to the TAS, turn the HPI transmitter on and blast it with a thousand plus Watts of radiation. We could literally cook birds out of the sky with it.
And yes, such a system would to a number on any traffic radar it locked on to.

If you do the math, speeding doesn't really do much unless it's a very long trip.

I did back when i was a teen and early 20's

not now, too old for that shit

Escort Passport I bought for $300 3 yrs ago and in those 3 yrs I've only gotten 1 speeding ticket. Thing is a life saver. I never travel without it.

Used to drive like a dumbass, pretty much sped everywhere. But since my daughter came along, I just drive like an old man. Silly waste of gas...

vailpass 02-09-2014 01:34 PM

DC I'm sorry but I read the thread title, "poll, do you use it?" Saw your name and laughed. I know I need to grow the **** up...

houstonwhodat 02-09-2014 01:48 PM

Let off the gas and coast to the next crest. Repeat. Knowing how radar works and drive to my advantage. On one hand it's speeding on the other hand I'm a very alert driver. I also take my medicine if I get stopped.

I call it selective speeding, and I'm a master at it. I've got 1 speeding ticket in the last several years and it was early in the morning, I was trying to pass a truck before my exit, and got popped because my dumbass didn't see the cop. Told him he had me dead to rights, and accepted the ticket. Otherwise, by using the same methods you yourself employ, I have thus far avoided any other tickets. I've thought about getting a detector, and I'm willing to pay top dollar for one, I just don't know what really works anymore with how fast technology moves.

Yeah, even going 75-80 in a 70 can be hard if there are a lot of trucks on the road, since so many people can't pass one without dropping to the speed limit or under.... anyone you pass just ends up right behind you at the next cluster**** of cars.

I try to stay just under 80 for longer drives... it cuts down the ~200 mile trip to Omaha by about 20 minutes and at least at one time in MO, the difference between 9 over and 10 over was like $30 (IIRC), so the logical thing would be to either drive at 79 or 85+ (not that it never happens... :D ).

Heh, I've had the same conversation with my wife. I'm either doing 78 or around 89. If you're gonna risk it, you may as well run.
