Not exactly a rule you're building there. Sounds like an exception.

That was the one that came to mind in 5 seconds.

If I care about this more, I'd find more examples.

But I don't.

It looked pretty good to me. 12 wins (I'm counting San Diego Week 17) and a damn good playoff performance that sadly crumbled under the weight of 5 key injuries.

It didn't work out. So now the Chiefs are going back to the drawing board for a year, stocking up for 2015/2016 and make their play then.

With Alex Smith at QB.

Brilliant.

Dude, we're supposed to get excited about the future EVERY YEAR at this time.

You can't keep dangling a carrot and never let them take a bite.

That ain't what I'm doing.

Honestly, ChiefsPlanet is predictably flooding itself with grown men with computers acting like pouting teenagers.

Because with $9m in cap space and 5 key free agents departing, we were supposed to close the gap on a team with Peyton Manning and more than twice our cap space.

Right. And I'm the one in dream land.

:wtf:

This season is "part of the plan."

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

We expected them to at least not WIDEN the gap. Which of course, they did.

God, let's hope you don't. Because that was a pretty sorry attempt to rebut my point.

What will be funny to me is when we win around 6 to 7 games next season and miss the playoffs. And then the offseason comes around and Dorsey starts cutting fan favorites like Brandon Flowers and Tamba Hali. Guarantee you that the people that are screaming "calm down" right now will be the ones flipping out and screaming that Dorsey has no clue what the **** he's doing.

Doing nothing and creating holes on the roster doesn't count.

We have no way of knowing that at this point. Marcus Cooper could show another year of development, and the Chiefs could draft a CB in the early rounds of either the 2014 or 2015 draft. Not the mention the Chiefs will have the $ and draft pick ammo to sign a blue chipper off the market or trade for one.

Or restructure flowers for lower cap numbers if he's still got some game for the slot CB role, which I think he will. Trade cash for cap.

Hali will be gone, no cap hit and he's fading fast.

I'd trade Shaun Smith for Revis right now straight up if they could work some cap magic. Dump Alex Smith cap$ in future years with a lot of expected breathing room, maybe you could sway revis off his 'no restructure to make trade happen' if you sweeten him with guaranteed $ in the 1st couple years.

You expected them to keep pace with the Broncos who (a.) have more cap space, and (b.) have far less than five key veterans departing, and (c.) a Hall of Fame quarterback?

Or Carr. Or Manziel. Or. Or. Or.

If you're building through the draft, build through the draft.

Don't give away multiple high picks for a 30-year old QB.

Zach Martin. Part of the plan.

I expected them to make an attempt.
