It becomes an actual physical addiction. Capsaicin causes your body to think that your mouth is physically on fire, so it also releases a flood of endorphins. Endorphins are your body's natural pain defense, and gives you a happy high feeling. It also releases lots of dopamine, which is another happy reward sensation. It's that sensation that you get addicted to. It makes you physically happy. You get great joy and pleasure from the reaction your body has to it. No different than crack.

IIRC very hot foods cause pleasurable chemicals to be released in your brain.

There's 2 reasons I don't use it.
  1. I don't want to break that bad ass seal and
  2. There's a sticker on the plastic case it came in that says "WARNING! This is NOT a sauce, it is an ingredient. 1 teaspoon of Blair's 2am Reserve to 1 gallon of sauce produces EXTREME heat."

I have a love/hate relationship with stuff like this. I have to will myself not to collect things.

The cook in this video seems like a douchebag. Spooning up the sauce? That is really weak. It's not like the guy wiped the drumsticks off or anything. You cover the legs in sauce and then move them to the serving plate.

Making him take back what he said about being able to take down 10 wings? Pretty pathetic.
