I know who ****ing William Bartee is. He had no business coming in the first place. He only played two years at OU and defended 12 passes with 2 total interceptions in college.

I never said Fleming was the second coming of anything. I said he's better than Bartee.

There were actually two passes his way that went incomplete.

It was closer to 4/6. Just wanted to correct the record on that.

People have had it out for him since day one.

I know.

Seems he's been a pretty damn good corner for us

Hey *I* was the guy who argued he was one of the better signings in 2013. And I still believe that. But that doesn't change the fact that he has a tough cap number in 2015.

He's got elite measurables to be a #1 CB, and when the light is on, that's exactly what he is. When it's off however, he can get torched.

I was extremely pleased about his play this preseason, how enthusiastic he was even playing on the 2nd team. He's a great presence in the locker room, and honestly the Chiefs may have no choice but to keep him for his last year, but that's #1 CB money he's making if we do.

I agree wholeheartedly. He's gotten beat a few times and people always magnify shit like that. As if it doesn't happen to them all.

Direckshun 10-23-2014 09:30 AM

I have never gotten beaten in coverage on an NFL field.

This is my belief, as well. I think Cooper lost a lot of confidence after Manning and Rivers exposed him in the 2nd half of last season. If a player (any player really but especially at the CB position) loses confidence, it's over.

If Fleming does pan out, all of what I've said is true. That's an above-average NFL secondary.

I'm willing to bet that if a lot of shitty players stopped playing shitty they'd be average to above average.

The kid wasn't cut out to play corner, and the front office and defensive coaches and Grampa Dick were just to ****ing stupid to realize it. He NEVER looked for the football. He had NO awareness, no feel for the position whatsoever.

As far as Fleming goes, I don't see what everyone is so jazzed about. He got 4/4 completed against him, and 2 penalties. The one PI was complete and total horseshit, but it counted nonetheless.

Cooper has struggled, but got completely ****ed by the non-call in the 49er game on the shot to the face he took from Stevie Johnson downfield so that scrub could get separation for the TD. Illegal Contact, Hands to the Face, multiple calls could have been made on that play against Johnson but the officials elected to ignore that for some reason.

Cooper is likely having some confidence issues that they are trying to get him through. He can play, we've seen him do it.

I hope this Fleming kid works out, but he's no ****ing knight in shining armor here to save our secondary and kick Sean Smith to the curb.

That's ****ing hilarious.

Lets see the kid get thrown at without a completion, or a penalty first.

Baby steps.

Cooper sucks. He's a target now that every NFL team attacks with success. He got bitch slapped by Stevie Johnson. WR's don't respect Cooper and it shows on the field.

I agree. He's been much better than i thought, and certainly much better than he was last season.

Yes!! Watching that Chargers game I saw Gaines make 3-4 huge plays to break up really good passes by Rivers', was so stoked to see our DB's playing tight coverage and getting their damn heads around for the ball to make a play on it. We're turning a corner this season I can just feel it. My prediction: 10-6, Wildcard berth.

It's kind of amazing to me how much discussion is going into the benching of a 7th round waiver pickup who has been torched consistently.

The way everyone is analyzing this you'd think Cooper was a first round draft pick.

He's a castoff being benched for a castoff.

I had, and still have long term hopes for Cooper but it is what it is. I don't think Fleming works out any better in the short term...
