To all who are mildly impressed by my running a sub 3 hour marathon I have to confess to having been a NCAA Div. II track and cross country on scholarship type while in college. I actually should have been a bit faster but stopped at about 23 miles, having hit the proverbial wall. I was wearing a yellow ball cap that day and a guy about 200 yards up the road jumps out and yells "Hey Yellow Hat! Run your scrawny ass up to me and I'll pour you a pint!" I immediately took off, made it there, downed the pint, got a kiss on the cheek from whom I guess was his sister and continued on to the finish line. The worse part was then I knew I had another twenty minutes before I could finish. I also vividly recall getting sprinted past by a saddle bagged woman in the last 400 meters and just having to laugh at myself for not being able to do a damn thing about it. Lactic Acid, the great equalizer....ROFL

Why did we stop wearing armor after guns were invented?
An arrow can't work either then

Good question. I bet the expected survival rate of being fast and shifty was better in a mixed gun/bow world than being slow and armored. Those pioneers were pretty good about working out the odds.

truth is, i hate running. shit, i hate walking.
but she loves it, and i'm kinda fond of her. so, i'll follow her around the country and support her.

you don't seem to be the type of person that would understand something like this, which is fine. keep hunching that pillow at night:D lots of different people.

Buddy of mine finished in 2:52:35 I think it was, today.

Coolest part is we have about 6 people from our area that ran Boston today. Hopefully I can be there next year. Kind of s bucket list thing.

I'm envious of fast people. These days I'm running about 2:10 halves.

I did hit a couple of milestones last month, though. I ran my 75th half marathon (in 82 months), and ran a half marathon in my 20th state.

In two weeks I'll be in north-central Kansas to notch State 21 if anyone wants to join me.

well, boston's been a bitch for her. had back/hip problems 2 years ago. we thought she was in pretty good condition for this one, but her hip started bothering her and then the legs started cramping up pretty bad. she usually finishes around 3hrs 40 minutes. over 4hrs today...she's kinda pissed.

she's back and showered. i rubbed her feet down and left her resting while i ran across the road for a couple beers. when she's able to move, we'll go eat supper.

she's a little depressed, but i'm not gonna let it get her down. take a couple days off, then start training for another one to qualify to come back. probably do chicago or memphis again for this.

as long as i don't have to drive, i love boston.
