Just an FYI the server hiccup a minute ago was me... just doing database stuff. Should be all good now.

What is going to happen to chat?

I heard Chrome is going to kill support for Flash-as many others have done. This is supposed to happen very soon.

My web page has a flash component and I will have to revamp it soon because of 'problems' with flash.

Flash will still run but the browser will ask before running it. So chat will work fine for quite some time. I am also looking at HTML5 alternatives.

If you see any server issues today it will be me working in the background on some more upgrades you can't see but should slightly increase performance and stability before we start the season.

Other than our old ass version of Vbulletin, the server should be in tip top shape and able to handle whatever we throw at it this year.

All I ask is that you don't get rid of my sailboat icon in chat. It's what keeps this team winning.

I'm excited to try the new version. Chat is a great alternative to having to read Clay posts in game threads.

We have our monthly server costs which basically haven't changed. The only additional costs will be if we move to VB5 (which is being vetted now) and possibly if we use a fancy hosted chat solution(looking at a few options here as well). Otherwise most of what I have been doing only "costs" my time to get it done.

Our monthly costs are mostly covered by the ads at the bottom of the page although that has fallen off a bit this year. It doesn't seem to be related to activity more just a function of the market paying less I think.

The recent outage was just me working on chat room upgrades. It is NOT currently upgraded but should be soon. (fingers crossed)
