I actually liked the movie thing they did. Especially the end when the jammed out to Orion. I guess I'm in the minority. Lol.

Last Caress/Green Hell

Metallica

I got something to say
I killed your baby today
And it doesn't matter much to me
As long as it's dead

Well I got something to say
I raped your mother today
And it doesn't matter much to me
As long as she spread

Sweet lovely death
I am waiting for your breath
Come sweet death, one last caress

Go, sweet lovely death
I am waiting for your breath
Come sweet death, one last caress

Well, I got something to say
I killed your baby today
And it doesn't matter much to me
As long as it's dead

Sweet lovely death
I am waiting for your breath
Come sweet death
One last caress

One last caress, sweet death
One last caress, sweet death

Oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

I think I like it okay. Def. tight how they're synchronizing their drums w/ guitars riffs.

Simply Red 08-19-2016 04:25 PM

Also the cussing makes them seem desperate. Not really the normal Metallica style.

I've liked pretty much everything they've made with the exception of St. Anger. I just couldn't get into that album AT ALL. Not that it was horrible IMO, I just wasn't as jacked as I normally was after a Metallica release.

The one thing I wish they would get back to a little bit is the over driven guitar sounds. They switched it up around St. Anger I believe, and I've never really warmed up to it.

Whatever way the snare on St. Anger was recorded/mixed/played etc.....was horrible. I"m not a drummer so I'm not sure what gave it that particular sound, but it sounded like shit. like a tinney sound instead a blast of the snare.

I give them credit for playing pretty damn good music for so long. Hell, i grew tired of playing thrash metal on my guitar after about 5 years, and got more into blues and acoustic type stuff. I can't imagine playing thrash for 35+ years. I like the diversity of their catalog of music, personally. They still have more talent in their pinky fingers than alot of bands can ever hope to have in my opinion.

See the vocals on this one I feel are drowned out by the guitar, his voice appears much weaker, so at this point they should just do instrumentals where they destroy the guitar. Maybe they could land a promo on a zombie style video game soundtrack or something.

Leaked. I'm skipping around and it appears to pretty much cover all ground in Metallica's career, from Kill Em All to the Load eras to modern.

Listen to this though. Found it on the Metallica subreddit. Meh sound quality but it's easily Metallica's best thrashy song since their heyday. I haven't heard James spit fire like that maybe ever. Amazing tune.

At this stage of their careers-it would be nice to see them break some new ground. They seem intent on being thrash kings while sacrificing all lyric and melodic perfection.

2 record set of this seems like overkill- but they have enough die hard fans-it will probably go Gold. Then they can make 100 million on the road playing their good songs while throwing these in so fans can take piss breaks.

Lars has to be the most one-dimensional drummer of all time. Nice solo by Kirk-it would nice to see him spread his wings more and show what a great guitar player he really is.

They could have hired Colonel Les Claypool to be basis but they were afraid he would show them up. That would have been ground breaking evolution with alternative rock & heavy metal mesh up. I think it would have been cool. Metallica auditioned Les Claypool but they said he was too good for the band.

First....I'm not sure how Claypool could be basis. Maybe a bassist, but I'll bow to you on the basis.

Second, the band never said he was too good for the band. The auditioned him with lots of others and picked the one they felt fit best...He didn't fit. For what Metallica is, Trujillo was beyond better. Claypool didn't fit, and if anyone who knows the South Park theme song thinks that it fits Metallica, then you clearly have no clue.

They auditioned Claypool in 1986 after Cliff died. Would have been interesting but I can see Hetfield/Ulrich not going there because they were both control freaks during that peroid and Claypool didn't fit in with that

They made the right choice with Trujillo but they also auditioned Pepper Keenan during that time as well. That would have been ****ing sweet.

They'd indicated LC was too good for what they were trying to do - youtube it. ha! Primus>Metallica IMO
