No way, Garrozos smokes Cascones. Their Chicken Spiedini is one of the best things on the planet. I still think about they last meal I had there...stuffed artichoke was amazing.

One of your best "bang for the buck" upscale restaurants is Grand Street on the Plaza...everytime I go there, I leave thinking what a solid place it is...price + quality. Pierponts is good too, cool location.

Il Osteria Centro is another solid Italian place (and just far enough away from the Plaza to not get attacked by groups of adolescent thugs)

My opinion is dated at this point, but I'm a fan of Novel. Great dishes plus a unique dining experience.

Garrozzo's is the first place I ever had calamari that wasn't just the rings. It was enlightening.

Piropos at Briarcliff, the majestic steakhouse used to be good as well.

That's an awesome place too...downtown, old school steak house. Would be a solid choice for someone visiting...

One of the part owners or something used to teach at the dental school so he'd take us down there and let us eat and drink for free. Good times. They have great steaks.

I was going to mention this as well but seems pretty out of the way for someone 1) visiting KC who probably has plenty on the agenda anyway and 2) staying near Leawood.

But that is a quality place in a funky yet affluent area.

Plaza III Steakhouse

Really good eats. I am pretty sure the Chiefs themselves entertain free agents for dinner here and I believe they finalized the Montana trade here.

Ask about dinner at Buzz's house?

My last time there was just ok. However I had just gotten back from Chicago and steaks there are just better.

I like Houston's a little better than plaza III tbh.
