I'm tired of this "sit" bullshit. What the **** is he supposed to learn from the sidelines? What did Stanzi, Murray, Bray, Hogan, etc. learn behind Smith? Where are they now? What are they going to learn? How to play safe and let the D and special teams win it for you? We were 12-4 and how many of those games did Smith WIN for us? You are telling me Mahomes can't do that and more? We will NEVER be great or get RESPECT as long as Alex is the QB. I'm tired of it.

Think Smith will start for week 1 there. As it is 2017 and Mahomes will be under center for 2018.

I hope Alex kills it and we get a 1st or 2nd rounder for him next offseason. That would be the perfect scenario.

It would be but unlikely to happen. Everyone knows he's hitting the bricks next year due to the cap.

Yep. I don't think people realize that if they get a return on Alex, he would need to be moved now.

They won't have leverage as teams think they are going to hit this jackpot in the draft and everyone will know we have to get rid of Alex.

Man, my head is gonna explode. Alex has NOT changes folks. You will see

I remember an old interview with Peyton Manning where he said, "you're not going to learn much if you don't play"

I disagree.

The Chiefs can get plenty of cap relief next year without cutting Smith.

Hold on to him until the final week of the preseason, at the latest.

Teams will make offers.

DaneMcCloud 08-21-2017 02:07 PM

Additionally, the Chiefs won't (at least at this point in time) have the cap burden of a first round pick, which also helps their cap situation.

They will have 44 pending FA's and about 4.5 million in space to work with, if they carry every bit of space they have now (they won't).

Cutting Hali and DJ alone won't be enough.

I think if they cut Smith they will do it early to Smith's benefit to give him
max time to go somewhere. There is no way I see them not cutting Smith.
No way Smith would want to be a backup anywhere and he should start at least 3 or 4 places.
I am no cap wizard but I can't see a way to save the money we get by cutting Smith elsewhere.

Same thing was happening to him in 2013 and we poined up. Surely some team will be as dumb as us.
