This is a great point. My parents live in a house on the inside of a sharp curve that's on a somewhat steep hill. The outside neighbors end up rebuilding their retaining walls on a yearly basis due to crashes, (the road gets icy in the winter and the speed limit signs don't make a difference).
The best thing to do would be to teach the kids to respect the roads and stay away from the dangerous areas.

i'd knowingly drive well past teh posted speed. stop and ask how fast was that? sure i could go faster next time.....

just playin'. you're a good soul!! (get off my lawn)

Strongside 08-31-2017 10:51 PM

I'd take a fat nasty in your lawn after dark. I'd also wear a ski mask because you're obviously the kind of dude with laser-motion-activated cameras on your premises.

I would make a sign as large as you can get away with that says:

"Drive Like Your Kids Live Here"

and have Todd Heap on it.

I have a radar gun and often sit on the curve and gun cars. Most are good. Some are not.

A guy stopped today and told me not to radar him. Was an ass about it. Said he was gong to take the curve at 30 because it was the speed limit. Had a discussion. I was as nice as I could and asked him to just be slower when he was driving through. He was still an ass. Had another resident claim it was harassment

Am I wrong to do this? We have 20 kids in the lots visible and more will be on the way. All lots have houses now.

I am going to the city to talk about options.

Yep. Being DB. Sry

i have a cricket bat, that on the front says 'slow down ****ers', and when they trap themselves speeding down a dead end street, when they come back i brandish it :D

ROFL i hate yards that have no trees. especially the ones where they cut down twenty trees to clear a lot, and plant new ones :(

Forgot to ask what your end goal is. What do you think the city will/can do when you contact them about further options?

That certainly doesn't sound like something a dipshit would do at all.

I would ask when your radar was last calibrated, and if you are a certified radar operator in the state of Missouri.

crazycoffey 09-01-2017 05:25 AM

Nothing illegal about you radar "gunning" them. Also nothing illegal with them taking the curve at 30.

I'm more worried that many in this thread say you're the ass for operating a radar gun and not the guy who stopped and asked you not to use the radar gun. Who cares either way?

Gather some data, share it on social media or with the city; if it makes you feel like you're doing good.

If you see a neighbor using a radar gun, slow down or speed up; but don't stop and confront a guy doing nothing wrong.

Also, if you're using a radar gun, don't try to stop drivers on your own either!

This seems like an incredible waste of time. What are you trying to accomplish? Petition the city to have the speed limit changed and then shut the **** up about it and stop acting like you need to police your neighbors.

I have a douchebag neighbor like this. I had a week long business trip last summer in Washington DC. I decided to fly my wife out to meet me after and we spent another 4 days seeing the sights. When I got home one of my neighbors had taped a note to my front door letting me know that my grass was over the height limit. I flagged this douchebag down the next time I saw him driving by our house and told him that I had been out of town and that I would appreciate it if he would mind his own ****ing business.
