Bring cash, come to the 'hood and have some Prince's Hot Chicken and leave a changed man...in a good way.

We had thanksgiving at Monell's in Germantown a few years ago at a round communal table. Just the wife and I and a big black family. It was very funny for everyone involved.

They agreed Hattie B's is better, even if Prince's is the original.

I was there a week and ate Hattie B's three times. Maybe four.

They try to do it in LA, but it isn't the ****ing same. Not by a long shot.

He should have made Bob deliver it and only given him a one way ticket.

There's a Gus's next to KC Joes. never been there but I know someone who's opinion I trust that works nearby.

It's just Buffalo fried chicken isn't it?

Not only is Nashville Hot Chicken real, it's spectacular. And if the story is to be believed, it's origin is one of the best.

Hattie B's husband pissed her off, then told her to fix dinner. Dinner that night was fried chicken. She figured she'd fix his wagon by dousing it in cayenne.

Turns out he loved it, and the neighbors loved it, and the city loved it.

I haven't had it in Nashville, but I've had Gus' here in St. Louis on Manchester [OK, better than most fried chicken] and Southern on Olive [a truly religious experience].

We should send him a huge box filled with the excrement of the KC offensive line after eating the best BBQ in town...

I've heard that.

Don't remember it.

Zarda's ribs aren't that bad. Its not their best thing. Worst ribs (IMHO) from a KC BBQ joint is either Wyandotte or Earl Quicks. Don't care for Rosedale's ribs much either. I think Wyandotte is the worst of the bunch. Taste like overcooked pot roast.

I was warned of those places, had lunch (ribs) at Rosedale...Once

It was there or Dagwoods, ribs at Dagwood's would have been better.

Right? I've had some amazing food and experiences at the JackStack Freight house.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Q39 and Joe's... but many other BBQ gets unnecessarily shunned due to the reputation of those two places.

Smokehouse (Zona Rosa) still has the best BBQ Beans, and their "Super Crispy" chopped brisket sandwich is better than Jacks "Poor Russ".

I like the sauce at Zarda's and their beef brisket. I'm ok with the ribs there. I like ribs that you can sink your teeth into. I've never gotten into ribs that are so tender, when you pick them up they fall off the bone. If I wanted BBQ flavored mushy baby food, I would buy baby food and pour BBQ sauce into it.

I'm with you on that. When I'm back in KC, I will swing by there and get a quart of the pit beans to go, and then go someplace else for the rest of my BBQ.
